Wraith 8
well at least for me it is bad news. im posting some more on the official forums these days. i posted our dev questions and all. and there was this other question... here. it said: 1. Does anyone know what the monthly fee will be, if any (Im assuming that there will be). the answer: $15.00 per month. I thought it was $10 a month... I personally dont like that one bit.. 10 bucks was just enough to pay for me.. but $15 is a tad to much... i dont know if i can afford it. and your answer to this post might be: Get a job! I HAVE A JOB. but i have more montly fee's to consider than SWGalaxies. i have to pay over 40 dollars a month to things already... it is very expensive for me.... what do you think? -Wraith 8-
DudEhead
damnit... 15 bucks.... BUT ive read somewhere that they're developping a new system for servers where instead of one big server u can use several small ones and link em up... pulling down costs of bandwith to 1$ and less a month per user !!!! Zendjir
Damn, $15 is a bit too much for me at the moment. Ok, the game may be great, but I don't think I'll pay over $10. I'll only pay that much if I couldn't go on with my life if I don't play, and since it's a game, thats not likely to happen. I think this will cost them alot of customers. Oh well, just keep praying that it's all a lie. Edit: Phew, just read the thread, the announcement of the $15 fee was done by a station member, not a dev. Koffin
I bet if we can actively voice are concerns as a whole, we will manage to keep the price around 10$-12$
arguile
i think koffin is right. if we show how resentful a 15 dollar fee would make us they might reconsider.
RoyalGuard
hmm, $15 a month... that's 9-11 pound depending on exhange rate... call it ten to be easy... I pay 22.99 a month for ADSL unlimited access (UK users use PIPEX!) so thats a total of 33 pound a month roughly for SWG running costs... I will play 2-3 hours a day, every day... so thats about 75 hours a month. so I'm paying about 1 pound for every two hours of entertainment... compared to going to the cinema (5+ for one film) that's a pretty good value for money and I think that I could afford the extra, it just means one less night out a month... Ride
Well, I will probably play about 2-3 hours a day or more. Probably five hours a day at that, but fifteen dollars is way to much. EQ is getting to expensive right now going to 12 bucks a month. For a whole year, it would be around 180 dollars just for SWG alone, not including ISP fee's. I think we should be able to buy a years subscription for 100 dollars, that means that they would loose around 20 bucks(10x12=120). I would also pay fifty dollars for a six month subscription. What ever, either way, I will probably pay it since my pay checks are around 300-400 dollars each.
DudEhead
i'd say no way I'm gonna pay a fee that high and try to lower it... but i'll be honest, i'd even pay 20 $ for this game if it's as good as i think it'll be... of course i think that not many ppl wil be that prepared to play
Koffin
but i'll be honest, i'd even pay 20 $ for this game if it's as good as i think it'll be Shhhhhhhhhhh..................... Dont tell them that.........

Old_Ben
THey'll probably have it at a lower price to start and when they've got people hooked, playing 24/7. They;ll raise it knowing that we wont leave.
Sith Inquisitor
Considering the fact that many features will not be available on initial release, I would think they would have given a lower introductory price. Someone here mentioned that this information was passed along by a Station member, NOT a developer, so that is encouraging. I've never played Everquest, Anarchy Online, Ultima Online, because quite frankly, they never interested me. From what I am hearing, 15.00 is a bit unusual, so I'll wait to see what happens, but I'm willing to bet it will ultimately be between $10-$14.00. setsuko
After all, it is common curtesy for all MMORPGs to have the first month free. The most problematic releases (EQ and AO) even gave you an additional free month, since it was unplayable the first month.
Bobo Fart
You guys dont have it soo bad, here its $30 a month! australians money is double americans! 30 IS WAY TOO MUCH i want it too be like 10 bucks in aussie so for use 5 bucks a month american
Exar Kun II
Well, I must say that it is about what I expected. Since this is my first real MMORPG, I have no other extensive experience to compare it to except a brief tour of duty with WWII Online, which I quickly lost interest in, not because of the theme, but because of the lack of funtionality. Lucasarts is either. . . 1. Very sure of themselves and are sure that this game will be so awesome you'll be willing to pay $15.00. Or. . . 2. Drunk with it's own arrogance. Since we have until December, and the developers do read this forum, I think the initial pricing will change.
Redwing
Well I wouldn't worry that much Wraithy...the guy who said $15 seems to have made it up ^_^
DudEhead
lol... but it might have been planned... the devs might have been playing with the idea and told the guy to say it so they could see people's reaction to it... and seeing we didn't react that bad, it might be 15$ a month once the speeders are there

Koffin
We should all protest and refuse to play the game untill its release date. You know, show them we mean buisness and such....
RoyalGuard
I agree. The action is drastic but necessary. I will refuse to play the release version of the game until the release date. Who's with me?
