Alien426
I think this the last try: Ian Webster It's hard to tell when a topic has ended these day since you don't visit that often. Back to topic. I haven't ordered the books yet. But once I have the question will be: Invisible Monsters or Choke first? Why is it so bad to start IM soon after S? Doubleplus GC
Altenbough? Webster? What's with all the fruity last names? What, do you think I'm girly? I'll have you know that I share a last name with a very respectable and masculine brand of tights and leotards.
Alien426
Rees? Gotta be home to check out some more.
Moon Roach
Ian Hurley? You did reveal your name on the old forums, but we all promptly forgot it. I'm selling some of my stuff because I'm moving, and I think I'll say goodbye to my precious Fight Club poster. I'd like it if I could pass it on to another true fan, for $20 bucks of course. It's gigantic...about 44 x 35 inches, and it comes in 4 pieces. It's one of a kind, and it's been very close to me. I'll post a pic of it if anyone's interested. Doubleplus GC
Sadly, I already have one.
chrisakachris
I'll take the poster off your hands. But not for $20. I'll pay you exactly what you payed for it. I think that's more than fair, considering wear and tear, etc. Deal?
Moon Roach
Hm. Ah. Well. That SOUNDS fair to the untrained ear, but in reality it would be a lot fairer if you paid me a different sum than what I paid for it...considering how I got it.
mercatfat
$20 would likely just be the shipping cost.
chrisakachris
Fine. I will pay you twice the amount you initially payed for it. Thrice! No, quadruple the price! I know, I'll pay you five times the original price you paid! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Doubleplus GC
Chuck Palahniuk was on Haight Street yesterday doing a reading from his new book, Lullaby (which I promptly bought and got signed, natch). He's pretty cool. It's surprising how many Choke fans there are. It's the least favorite of his books among fans, according to the poll at The Chuck Palahniuk Cult (http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net), but those who like it truly love it. They are like you, Roach. Anyhoo, he was pretty very cool and the book looks pretty very cool, and my converstaion with him was dumb on my part but my handshake was very firm and stirdy because I rock the fucking casbah!. Yeah, anyway, I am cooler than you.
chrisakachris
I must seek out a way to get Lullaby. Hey, GC, once I finish Slapstick, is it more urgent that I read Jitterbug Perfume or Choke?
Moon Roach
chris> Read Choke despite what GC says. About that poster....I don't know what the hell happened but it was lost in the process of moving. Boy, I miss it.
Doubleplus GC
Attitudes about Choke aside, you'd probably be better off reading Palahniuk before Robbins. You can knock out Choke in a week, and Jitterbug Perfume took me three months.
Moon Roach
What's Jitterbug Perfume about?
chrisakachris
"Beet" isn't the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind. (did the site just fucking demand that I enter details into that Intel ad so that I can post? I guess Mr Bite Me at support@intel.com is going to get some spam. Shame)
Doubleplus GC
Jutterbug Perfume is about eternal life, love, life's meanings, sex as it pertains to immortality, sex for the fuck of it, and beets. It's really best to just read the book with no preconceptions. Find it in a bookstore and read the first three pages. If you don't think it's the coolest goddamn intro you've ever read, don't bother buying it. Robbins is by far one of my favorite authors now. Skinny Legs and All was almost as good as Jitterbug Perfume, but not quite. Not Quite!
