"Ships on 02/14/2003"

Yup, that's the word from EBgames. And they use to be really correct at setting shipping dates for their products. Sure, Lucasarts claims that it's just a rumour, but EB has been right most of the times when it comes to release dates.

Just warnin' ya. Hopefully, it will be as stated (right after X-mas), but this doesn't look well...

Think of it like this:

EB games's good name is based on them knowing when the games are shipped. That's their main interest.

Lucasart/Verants good name is based on everyone thinking that everything works on schedule, and, most importantly, that people get to know news when lucasart/Verant finds it timely. That's their main interest.

Announcing schedule delays this early is not in lucasart/Verants interest, since to most people that would sound like there is something very wrong (when in reality, most good games have had schedule delays).

EBgames and Lucasart/Verant may very well both know the planned release date, and while EB's major interest is to keep their customers informed, Lucasart/Verants interest is keeping up a hype that is free from bad news. It's like when the government doesn't want you to know what's really in the tap water! :D

They did anounce on the official boards that they did fall something like 1-2 weeks behind because of a hard drive crash and all of the backups failed. This screwed up the version control so they would have had to go to old versions and catch up. However, they were still able to have internal testers working on the game.

this would have been admitted since beta1 was scheduled to start on July 15th. They couldn't exactly say beta was delayed without telling people because that would open a serious can of worms. You know what happens when some peoples imaginations havn't been destroyed by TV and they start sending rumours.

The devs have openly stated this may or may not effect release. It all is definitely hanging on how each of the beta stages go. If any major changes have to be made a delayed release date could definitely come to fruition.

Hmm, X-wing let me fly in a linear story line, TIE fighter awakened my love of the Empire, Dark forces and Jedi Knight let me butcher stormtroopers (so much fun, but not as much fun as turning around and killing the rebels) but only SWG will give me what I crave, as close as you can get to being INSIDE the SW universe as you can with the tech. widely available.

I can wait two more months providing their used to make the game better. I couldn't wait that much longer - the frustration of knowing that I'm so close and yet so far from the game I want would probably unbalance me....

sum up:

The game might be released later than planned.

most people thought this is:

A) not a Good Thing [TM]

but

B) it will propably be worth the wait.

There. If I continue like this, we don't need posters at all! ;D
