Thew Rydur
It seems like after looking around on these forums, checking out PA member listings, and looking at other sites that most players will be human. This can be expected. There is also a good mix of Wookies, Bothans, Zabraks, and the other races. However one race I have not seen many people interested in is Rodian. Is anyone planning to have a Rodian character? If not why do you think not many people are going to play this race?
YourGod
i'ma be twi'lek (not mentioned in ur list of common races)... a friend of mine is goin to be rodian, but he's only doin it cuz "no one else will be" w/all due honesty, they look like a mix between bugs & fish, but mostly bugs...and, like most ppls, i hate bugs - that could be it what are you goin 2 be? Sckitzo
Yes, one I reason is there lack od Asthetic appeal, and Im goona play a human (imp gott be human) and a Twi`elk.
YourGod
imperials have 2 be human?
Thew Rydur
Yeah, I forgot about Twi'leks. I'm planning on being a human and probably having a secondary character be a Wookie. The Rodians are ugly but they make good bounty hunters, which is something that a lot of players seem to want to do (including me).
Thew Rydur
I don't think Imps have to be human, but it will help if you are one.
<|WoV|>Shade
Im gonna have a rodian...(yes probably a bounty hunter...) and im also gonna have a twi'lek...although i dont know what i want to do with my twi'lek in the way of a jedi and what-not. Any suggestions?
Thew Rydur
Well, you could have your Twi'lek character focus on trying to become a Jedi. I don't really know how you'd do this maybe acting kind and trying out a wide variety of skills. But your guess is as good as mine.
FunClown
Trandoshan for me. Imperials don't have to be human though humans do rise up the ranks faster. I think people don't want to be rodian because they don't look strong.
Kyle d'Tana
In SW, the rodians have a bad role! They have a small role too. Humans (Solo, Organa, Skywalker) and Wookies (chewie) had bigger and better roles.... Thats why many people wouldn't be Rodians. Its a theory but its good, I think... Jackrabbit
I was going to be a Rodian, but being Human now. Human fits better with the picture of my character in my head. I love Rodians, I have since I was a little kid. I don't know why nobody likes them, they're bad ass. It makes me mad that they're not represented well in the movies. They always die like punks, and their costumes look like an afterthought. Well, I'm starting to rant. One of my characters will be a Rodian, I know that, I don't know what his class will be though. Sckitzo
You dont have to be human, but its almost a requirment. Thrawn was aa rare example.

RoyalGuard
I'm (fairly obviously) being a human. I think the low number of people who want to be Rodians is due to the rather poor deal the species gets in the films (they are quite cool in some books). After all, many people want to be like Chewie and Ackbar, who wants to be Greedo?
Ewok Hunter
funny you mention ackbar and chewie as both of their species have been made slaves by the empire...
RoyalGuard
I prefer the term 'indentured servitude' to slavery. More politically correct don't'cha know. After all slaves are freed after a period of time. Our indentured servants have life contracts. Literally. I think that merits an evil laugh mwahahahahahah! RoyalGuard
You crack me up every time Royal guard I live to serve... Emperor Palpatine that is... hmm, seriously I wonder if player characters could be enslaved in game, instead of killed. It would be immensely satisfying to sentence a rebel player to life on Kessel, and know that they'd have to role-play slavery for a while, until they either got rescued or gave up. Then it wouldn't really be that much fun for the player. Being an ex-slave should definitely be possible for players as part of your background though. After all apart from the wholesale massacres (thoroughly deserved mind you) slavery was the other big reason the poor misguided rebels believed the glorious, just and munificent Galactic Empire to be evil... They can't leave it out, can they?
Gaalgoth
they can and have because "slavery does not provide the message we want to send in this game".
Ewok Hunter
then what will all the poor dancers do, indentured servitude
Sckitzo
Oh, Im sure the glourish Emperor Palpitine in all of his infinte wisdom had his reasons for slavery, and would have done away with them when it was no longer neeeded. Though if they remove slavery from this game, Ill be very disapointed. Dont get me wrong I have a immense dislike for slavery, but it was a big factor of SW. If they start removing things to make them politicaly correct, itll be a matter of time for when thell have to remove Datahmor (sp?) for its "satanic" message itll be giving to kids. I just wish theyd sla[p a mature raiting on this game, make it som much easier on all of us. Or at least those of us that will be able to buy it, I mean if your not old enough to buy it our not old enough for a credit card. And if your parents are going to let you use there card, good chances there gonna think your mature enough for a M rated game.
Ewok Hunter
notice how they'll probaly not have much control over what people will say in the game, what if some people are chating about M rated stuff in a cantina? that''ll probably bring those rating radicals running to have lucasarts sued:(
Lord Helmet
wow a conversation asking why people dont like rodians ends up being a lawsuit on lucas arts heh
