Berdon Posted August 16, 2002 Posted August 16, 2002 It may just be me, but I am an old time inverted mouselook player. Will this game only be non-inverted. It would let me down a little, but I would still play.
Thew Rydur Posted August 16, 2002 Posted August 16, 2002 On the official boards one of the dev's said that they're going to include it but haven't gotten to it yet. and Welcome to the forums .
Berdon Posted August 16, 2002 Author Posted August 16, 2002 I registered along time ago, but I was just in to much awe to post anything.
Ewok Hunter Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 well here's a quote from one of the beta update things I'm still a little disoriented from the non-inverted mouselook, but otherwise it was a nice start! Got a good feel for the max targetable distance, and it appears to be more than enough. It'll be interesting to see how long-range combat will work out doesn't mean that it won't be implemented, just that it wasn't in beta 1
Jan Gaarni Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 So what does that mean really, did they have to drag the mouse towards them to look up or push it away, which is normal?
Ewok Hunter Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 some thing like that, i think it was like moving mouse right looks left, moving forward looks down, ect.
Wraith 8 Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 Originally posted by Berdon I registered along time ago, but I was just in to much awe to post anything. i hate to be rude... but this was under another name? cause your registration date said june 2002.. wich is not a very long time ago Any way Welcome to SWGalaxies.Net C ya around -Wraith 8-
Ewok Hunter Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 hmm, you don't need to be registered to lurk wraith, I was doing it for a few months before registering...
Jan Gaarni Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 lol, hadn't thought of that. So that would make you a lurker-lurker then?
Wraith 8 Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 that reminds me..... im probably the only guy who registered in 2001.... you newbies
setsuko Posted August 22, 2002 Posted August 22, 2002 I really don't understand the fun in 'lurking' on forums. I've tried, but utterly failed. Understanding, that is, not lurking.
Ewok Hunter Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 well look at it this way, if you wnat to be recongnized for your '1337 spam skilz' you want to take notes on all the threads and make 40-50 posts in each forum on you first day so that your posts per day count is greatly inflated... or like me, you were just to lazy to take a minute to sign up:D
setsuko Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 Oh, and in a rare attempt to, for once, post on topic! Hold on, boys and girls! Here it comes! "Inverted mouselook is silly" Yup. Sure is. One of the sillier inventions ever. The only excuse is for flight games. And flights are played with a joystick, as everyone knows. Beware of inverted mouse look. It's sillyness will reach out and grab you.
Ewok Hunter Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 well, it's okay in things like flight simulators and maybe the rare FPS but in an "RPG"(notice the ""s set:D) like SWG it would be out of place
setsuko Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 Inverted mouse look in fps games makes me nauseous. Like car sickness. So yes, it's personal
Wraith 8 Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 I dont know set.... I played all Delta Force games and a whole lot of GTA3 and i believe they all are inverted mouse games..... you get used to it.. and it is pretty easy.
Jan Gaarni Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 Yes, but why get used to it, when you are already used to Normal Mouselook from your desktop view.
Wraith 8 Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Originally posted by Jan Gaarni Yes, but why get used to it, when you are already used to Normal Mouselook from your desktop view. hey.. im used to both.. i can switch very fast... and i was also very used to the old way of these forums.. before the merge... but now im used to this setup... you just have to adapt Jan
setsuko Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Hmm.. let's compare the words; normal. As in how it is supposed to be. As in 'not deranged'. As in 'doesn't make you throw up'. As in 'not being run over by a truck in a mall'. then we have inverted. As in 'the opposite as what it is supposed to be'. As in 'goddammit, something's wrong, this is completely inverted!'. As in chocolate icecream without chocolate. There. Is my point clear enough?
Jan Gaarni Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Well, let's put it like this: A mouse is a mouse and a joystick is a joystick. A mouse is not a joystick and a joystick is not a mouse.
setsuko Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 How much I hate it? Well, let's put it like this: If inverted mouse setting was a tiny, fluffy puppy dog with the biggest chestnutcoloured eyes you've ever seen, I'd still grind it to pulp with the biggest pair of Martens I could get my grossed-out little hands upon. Die, puppy, die!
Gaalgoth Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 I must agree with setsuko. Let's take it from the dr. Seuss angle: *ahem*. "Mouses drink mouse juice and joysticks drink joystick juice, but when mouses drink joystick juice and joysticks drink mouse juice, oh the things that will happen, they're surprising, you'll see! Look, there's a drug addict cat on my knee! And look, over there, it's a jedi wannabe! Oh the problems with mice when they don't work right, inverted mouselook is good only in flight." ... Yeah. sorry, I've been taking care of my nephews.
Sounds Risky Posted August 29, 2002 Posted August 29, 2002 Normal is also another word for boring. Eh eh! I also registered before Wraith! Wraith's a newbie now! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
