No. I've been forced to sit through many a saga by my friends who are obsessed with this crap. I've seen that ridiculous Cell saga, that whole stupid thing when Goku dies and trains with that tubby blue lardball, then that whole android thing. Each time, I came away asking them, "What the hell do you see in this ****?" The plotlines are repetitive as all hell and I don't really enjoy watching people moan and groan as if they're trying to pass the turd of the century each time they go "super saiyan" or whatever the hell that is. They do it for whole episodes. I mean, Good God. There is only so much I can take. Now, I can understand if it's a quaint little 50-episode series. I might actually watch it then. But 300+ episodes, all with stupid letters like GT and AF and FU and BS, just to get to to spend your money and watch the same thing over and over again? Outlaw Star has a much better plotline than DBZ. Hell, Looney Tunes has better plotting. At least Bugs Bunny blowing up Yosemite Sam is funnier and has thirty times the entertaiment value of Goku and Vegeta yelling at each other almost incoherently, saying the exact same thing. "OOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH...I'm going to BEAT YOU UP, KRAKEROTT!!! MWWWAAAAAHHHHHH....right after I pass this really big ****......" DBZ shouldn't even be considered anime in my opinion. DBZ shouldn't even be considered anime in my opinion. DBZ is anime, but we'll get back to that. Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, and Akira. Thery're all BRILLIANT achievments in animation. Macross (Robotech) and Mobile suit Gundam are the same concept, but are much older. Time and again I've heard people say what S**tty F***ing waste of talent those two series were. People who say that can't appreciate the beauty and artistry of true anime. I did a thesis for Anime on how I believe it should be considered a work of art, not cartoony bull. I was mocked by other students who thought "any animated anything" was childish. After they read my paper, all but one of them changed their minds. Ironicly one of them can be found in the ANIME forums voicing his opinion for his love of anime. You fail to see the underlying plot of DBZ. Toriyama wanted to make an epic struggle (300 episodes) of good vs. evil. I really like Goku's determination and free spirit. It inspires me to work hard, just like he does and enjoy life. He's the one that comes to save the day. He's the one that gives everyone hope, even if he knows he can't win, and will still DO his best. The charecters of DBZ have really good attributes that a lot of people can admire or relate to. BTW: Akira Toriyama sold the rights to Dragon Ball and another company made GT. And last of all... I don't like it when people diss the work of others, especially if they're not an authority of it. If somebody told me that the avatars I make are crap, I would be offended. I put a lot of time and work into making special av's for my friends here. My work represents who I am. If somebody better than me old me I need improvement, I'd thank them and try harder. It's the same as if somebody WORKED really hard on an animated film or series, only to have it shot down by somebody who doesn't appreciate their work. My point is is that you're entitled to your own opinion, but as an optimist and an animator I don't agree with you. IMO
Rogue Nine
An epic series, fine. That could have easily been accomplished by making a 50-episode set, not spending 50 episodes on one saga alone. And I'm sure not every fan of DBZ shares your rather happy interpretation of DBZ's symbolism. And I'm not dissing those who made DBZ. In fact, they're some of the shrewdest marketers I've seen. Being able to enthrall the masses by using the same boring, stupid repetitive formula.

All I'm trying to say is that it's totally different from, for example, Outlaw Star. I like both for different reasons. I enjoy little things like charecter development and storylines. Personally, I think Outlaw Star, Trigun, and especially Cowbow Bebop should have been much longer. At least 75-100 episodes.
