Darth Eggplant
avast Ye Sea Dogs. I am a land lubber I am afraid. I have never played Monkey Island but I do like Pirates. I have two questions three actually. (1)what is the side arm or gun called that a Pirate uses? and does anyone have or know where I could get a good sound FX of this weapon being fired? (2)is ther places where I could find Monkey Island music like mp3's? just to kind of hear what the game is like, or a place to see a video of what the game and characters are all about? (3) trick question as you'll all say yes; should I buy this game. I like Grim Fandango so it the same, different, different but I woul dlike it anyhow? anyways I am normally a GFN forum poster, I will try to check back here. my email is sinister.eggplant@3web.net if any one wants to get in touch with me. I am also on MNS and ICQ#151128733
Doodle Dude of Doom
a - have no idea try mp3.com? b - http://www.scummbar.com c - yes! or er... you should buy the games they are bloody brillant. there are 4 monkey siland games. the fourth and latest game is in 3D and quite familliar to Grimmy. Although 1,2,3 wich is much better than monkey island 4 is in 2D. All games is good this is my list 1. Monkey Island 2 - Best story, best puzzles, best everything 2. Monkey Island 1 - Just so good 3. Curse of Monkey Island (The third game) - Funny like hell 4. Monkey Island 4 - Quite good but not as good as the others.. In Monkey Island 1,2,3 u drive the character with mouse interface (point n clikc) but in the fourth game you drive the character with keyboard just like in grim fandango. hope you play these brill games. see you! Joshi
finally, anohter discworld fan i can console with. all we have here are feral and deadmeat (or was it DS, i can never remember) first of all, i don't know where to get the sound second of all, http://www.thescummbar.com , http://www.milegend.com , and the official sites off the lucas arts website should have some snippets and stuff. i suggest you look at the COMI trailer, that ought to get you hook. if you like grim fandango, you'll love this, same quality puzzels, same quality story (apart from MI4, but we won't go into that) but much funnier (and poorer graphics, but that just makes the story better) trust me, buy it! Metallus
Hey Eggplant, you might want to try findsounds.com, it's a search engine for audio files.
Darth Eggplant
thanks for the tip Metallus I will check that site out. and Joshi your avitar is weird, every time just for a second whenever I look at it I see a face then it becomes text. It is almost like I get a sudden burst of dark light from Otto's camera and see beyond. I have 2 of the thre discworld games. missed out on the film noir one should have bought it when I saw it. but yes you can talk Morporkian to me all you like. the trailer soinds good I will have to try and finf that. Joshi
Discworld Noir has a fantastic storyline and funnier without comparison (although you really can't beat the gratuitus 3D scene in discworld 2) but discworld 2 has more referance to life of brian (by far one of the best pythons). and how do you speak morporkian, isn't it just their version of english? but as they say, al roads don't lead to ankh morpork, infact, all roads lead away from it, people just seem to go down it the wrong way. and i also suggest you buy monkey island, again. Darth Eggplant
I imagine that morporkian would be well like when Big Bird in China runs around saying: 'Talk american' just another bastardization of the queens english but I suspect also merged with Ozzy speak as well. and the grat 3D scene in Mortality Bytes is fab as you can see my avi and my website GRIMPEG pays homage to 3D Death
Darth Eggplant
Oh I forgot the funniest thing in Mortality Bytes is having animated Rincewind end up in badly pixelated Rincewind's bedroom from game One. (and Rincewind asks sequel Rincewind some puzzle clues and he says no cause the person playing this game might not have played the first one yet. also the screen saver in Mortality Bytes is the best! Joshi
for some reason, i can't get into the discworld1 scene in mortality bytes, i know it's something to do with the elven portal in the wood, but i can't seem to do it. and also, i didn't know it had a screensaver. oh well. also, the fact that death wears a hat with corks in it, a concept originally devised by rincewind to keep the flies away (although at first he forgot to take out the bottles, but never mind.) Darth Eggplant
leave Rincewind anywhere and walk away and turn up the volume, you'll know when the screen saver kicks in. Rincewind has to go through the Elven portal a couple of times and get kicked out. it may even be after he and the librarian do the pantomime unicorn bit. Darth Eggplant
*tosses an Iron moutain piece of Dwarf bread at Rogue15's silly space vehicle* anything to up a post rating. don't worry Joshi.
Joshi
ah dwarf bread, if you can't eat it, it can eb used as a pretty good weapon against the unknowing. probably the only substance ni the universe that the death star couldn't blow up. now there's an idea, what would happen if you gave Cohan The Barbarian a light sabre and put him up against Darth Vader, who would win?
