Break_dF
2 Problems here that I personally have no clue about... 1: Run-time errors galore...this mainly happens when I'm browsing the web w/ ie. I just get SEVERAL of these pixie-xp-demons every hour on the hour and each consecutive minute afterwards... 2: Disk Clean-up DOESN'T work...period...it just doesn't. I click on it, it freezes up....that's it... Any suggestions as to how to fix the errors or maybe ever where the hell they come from? Also, obviously, any suggestions on the disk clean-up? I'm currently running Win XP. My computer is the anit-comp.
Sivy
format the hard disk, that should do it i can't tell you what the problem is, but if Disk Clean-up is freezing, it doesn't look good
Break_dF
I would rather stab myself w/ a ... yeah... then format my hard drive. If it comes to that, I'll just live w/ it; however, the run-time errors are REALLY annoying.
Hekx
Disk clean-up sometimes freezes up if you haven't used it for ages and there's a lot to cleanup... If you leave it for a while, and it stops responding, try some other cleaning software I have RegCleaner and err.. 'SafeClean Utilities 3.0'.. I've reformatted my hard-drive over 20 times, and I have only had this PC for just about a year Try updating all the Windows Script, VB and all that Microsoft stuff to see if it helps Defragmenting weekly should also help Sshh, I have slow C:\ Drive performance due to 1GB of MP3s (Well it seems like the cause...) Windows ME is the AntiChrist of Operating Systems. Fear M.E.!
Break_dF
Actually, I think it just kinda up and decided to stop working one day. Maybe it just decided that I wasn't good enough for it... I've updated all my stuff too. I don't know....maybe it's just time to beat this computer w/ a baseball bat and call it quits. Hekx
How long have you had it? Is it old and dead?
Toonces
It sounds like maby you have some bad sectors on your HD. I'd run a surface scan of your HD, and if that checks out ok, defragment. Also run a virus scan if you haven't done that yet.
Break_dF
I've done both... thanks tho. For now, I'll just blame it all on Bill Gates.

Hekx
Setup the 'Maintenance Wizard' to do a defrag, scandisk and disk cleanup... and run that. That should hopefully help. You may be getting the errors / diskcleanup freezing, because you have low system resources / memory. I suggest you go to http://www.pcpitstop.com and run some CPU tests. It's very useful and can help identify system problems.

Ratmjedi
About a week ago I kept getting a little prompt when I would shut down my computer for the night that I had low virtual memory and that it was compensating. What does that mean. I am relatively new to owning a PC but I do defrag about every other week and I clean out my Internet Temperary files every 2-3 days. I also give my computer a blow job as my friends say by taking off the casing and using air in the can to get all the dust off from the inside every 3 months. My computer was really fast when I got it but now it lags a little. I uninstalled all the games that I don't use and clean stuff up where I don't need it. I think it might be cause of my MP3's but I don't know. Any suggestions as to get my computer running a little faster?

If a PC is running low on virtual memory, it means that it is also running low on the Hard Disk space upon which to create the virtual memory. If you have Win98, then you need at least 300 MB free for a decent sized swap file for virtual memory that it needs.

My morals are lacking, but I would never stoop so low as to purchase a Dell...what an utter waste of good, can-opener material. My comp's a custom job (black market)...
