nova_wolf Posted December 14, 2002 Share Posted December 14, 2002 Being a Jedi of vast technical expertise rivalled only by the Great Anakins (Skywalker and Solo), I always like to see what benefits I can offer the New Jedi Order. One of my latest research projects was into advanced saber design. Not hilts as such, but whole new classes of sabers, requiring new saber fighting skills. Here are a few of what I have: Sickle Sabers: The actual blade projecting section is mounted perpendicular to the rest of the saber hilt. For surprising your opponent. Night Stick Saber: Based on the night stick and side arm batons of old, the hilt is wielded as normal in one hand, or by a side handle at a point 1/3 along from the non-blade end. This would use smaller blades, and best used in pairs. For closer combat against many foes. Glaive Saber: Specifically designed for use w/ Force TK abilities to throw. The intent is for a small disc with two short but wide blades protruding from each side in alignment w/ the disc' axis. Not to be used on own, as is for taking out targets at distance w/out leaving yourself open to further saber strikes as you retain your main saber. Claw Sabers: Type 1 - Anti-Personnel Claws: For use in close combat, and used in pairs (one per hand), this innovative saber class is in the form of a hand worn system with three short and finer blades mounted inbetween the four finger knuckles. The power is supplied from a pack worn on the user's belt. This is small, as the sabers draw less power than a full saber. The idea is to accentuate the feeling of the sabers being a mere extension of the Jedi's body. Faster and more agile, the claws are capable of everything a standard saber can do except for throwing. Extendable versions are also feasable for added duelling option. Type 2 - Anti-Armour Claws: Much larger form, again, best employed in pairs. Sabers are for dealing with large droid crowds and vehicles of anysort. NOT for duelling. Also useable by combat droids for taking on vehicles at point blank range. Halberd Saber: Long shaft with wide blade at the end. For keeping enemies at a distance. Two handed, so slowest and most ungainly weapon, but still effective. Can also be modified for a wide blade at both ends. Blaster-Saber: For every situation. A smaller saber hilt is also capable forms the barrel of a blaster pistol, so that it can be use to dueling one handed or to provide cover fire for allies. Power does not last as long as a straight saber, and the blade is not full sized (3/5 the size maximum), but the ability to switch from blaster to saber at the press of a switch ensures faster response to threats. No orange and purple stance. No twin sabers. No ridiculous jedimod please. I can see some possibilities there, with a weapon system as diverse as Rune's for example. Keep on truckin'. I don't know where I got the file; I must've downloaded it a-while ago. Well, I was kinda hoping that eventually, a mod would be produced that would allow MP player settings that are done via a GUI in windows and that allow you to select whether you're Jedi or something else, and then you select what moves (manoveurs and special attacks), saber type, stances, force powers etc... The Blaster-Saber was based on Squall's gunblade in FFVIII. Wolverine for the Anti-Personnel gauntlets. Terminators from Warhammer 40K for Heavy gauntlets. That and have been thinking about posting this for while - figured I can't do it, but someone else my be able to. Not a request or editing thing - just a discussion point as to if its possible, would anyone want it etc... But which in particluar you like ? Overall, these ones are a little more far fetched, but you never know... A new Force Power that is based on Force TK... If a Jedi can use his mind to create solid barriers of seemingly nothing, could a Jedi who is strong in this ability then sculpt a blade from the Force? So that in times of trouble, they can wield an extra, Force-born saber... Scythe Saber - combination of a sickle and a halberd saber. Used for taking out droids and large groups of enemies. Guardian Seeker Saber - a small droid is equipped with a saber. The droid is spherical, and is capable of hovering upto head height in any orientation. Has no propulsion of it's own except anti-grav. The Jedi controls the droid w/ TK and in practice doubles the workload of the enemy who now faces the equivilant of two saber armed Jedi. Great for Jedi who have more skill in TK than saber skils, as can control two to four of them in combat to aid allies. Sai Sabers - Based onancient ninja weapon known as the sai (TMNT - raphael's weapon of choice) Excellent for parrying sabers and dueling, despite very short nature. No real use against blaster bolts due to the same very short nature. Good balance for throwing also. Built from 1 saber blade for the middle spike and heavy cortosis biased alloy for hilt and guard spikes. Modification would be dual pahse to allow half length saber from middle spike to catch enemies of guard. Best employed in pair. Just got to lok at what has ben done (Games + true melee wepaons) and see if they have a use. Surprisingly good fun.... well - I currently have little else to do... BOHO!!! Oh, just go with the good 'ole mechanical explanation if you want a proper excuse to include those sabers. If they can make a lightsaber, they can also make a longer lightsaber. How bout combining masses of sabres into one giant one and fix it infront of an armoured vehicle which acts like a mole like drilling thing that can breakthrough any non-energy fortifications. Also if one lines up say a series of lightsabres in parallel, perpendicular to the ground, one next to another, would you create one everlasting wall (deflects/disintergrates all objects)...
