Rogue15
I just got the game for Xbox yesterday, Sunday, December 15, 2002. It's 1000000% better than the PS2 version. I was glad to see that I could use the original turok configuration for walking and aiming. The PS2 version didn't have that, and so it wasn't a pleasant experience, although I did enjoy the game, just not the controls for it. Anyways, I love it. It's the best Turok game, and it is what I expected Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion to be like. I got pretty far in 2 days, last night i was able to beat that level with the t. rex in it on my first try (It was difficult), and now I'm all the way on Chapter 5, rescuing this indian chief from interrogation. The AI in the game is pretty challenging, they'll try to surround you and when I have a weapon that does splash damage, they'll just run straight towards me, hoping i'll take myself out as well. The Sleg are so freaking life-like when they walk and run. So far i haven't noticed any real slowdown in the game, that only happens when a cutscene is just about to happen or before a guy starts talking. but i haven't noticed any fps problems. The levels are a little linear, but they're huge after chapter 3. The sound effects in the game are done nicely, you can easily figure out what weapon your attacker is firing, and you can hear your bullets slam into their body and their screams as an arm is ripped off, followed by lots of blood and them grasping their arm as they fall to the ground. mwahhaaha it's so damn fun!!! The weapon effects are nice, the flamethrower makes the screen all blurry, and the rocket from the rocket launcher, well that was done nicely. Your enemies carry about the same weapons that you get. sniper pistols, shotguns, grenades, flame throwers, rocket launchers, miniguns, and fletchette (sp?) guns. All the enemies are so cool looking and their death animations are nicely done. some get back up after they've fallen too. The flying levels are good too, the controls there are similar to starfox64. And it's pretty fun flying around and strafing stuff. I just need another controller so I can use the multiplayer feature. =] I actually played the game for 6 hours straight today! also, if you're wondering about my avatar, yes, it is Turok. edit: heh i accidentally hit the thumbs down button for the topic, subconsciously being insane, how cool! Rogue15
well, i got to chapter 8, near the end of that chapter, i think...the game seems to focus on drawn out battles, where you're forced to remain victorious if you want to go onto the next level. the flight levels take getting used to, but are a great addition to the game. The levels would seem short if it wasn't for all the enemies nuking your ass every time you want to see what's around that corner when you only have 25 health. =]
