Nute Gunray Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Today the Naval Intelligence guy I know turned up in school. He was in Bahrain I think he said but they sent him back to the US for some reason. And a friend of mine talked to Rune the other day and he's still in Germany.
Zargon Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 bahrain eh? they have good chicken wings there I hear
garyah99 Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 Hey Dudes. Actually I DID show up a couple of times last fall. I've been having an on again/off again relationship with my computer, so I haven't had solid Internet access for a while. Seems to be more stable now though. I haven't heard diddly from Ros or Guildy for ages. I keep sending them stuff but don't hear anything back. I wonder if they're trying to tell me something...
Rogue Nine Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 Buy it some new RAM. Or a new vid card. Yah. Those are the ways to a computer's microprocessor.
garyah99 Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Actually I pretty much replaced everything over time. Just got Win XP this week. Seems to run great now.
edlib Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 WinXP is the superior OS. All hail XP! Â Seriously, I've been running it about a month now with nary a hiccough. Solid. I approve.
Cmdr. Cracken Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 I was wary of XP, however, it is bestest
Commander 598 Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 XP is damn solid, however it has a price... Â Of my 512MBs of RAM, I have only about 300MBs free.

Gold leader Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 Dismissed. Mandrake 9.0 is the way to go. (if only I could get these nVidia drivers to work properly )
garyah99 Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 Originally posted by Nute Gunray 98SE for life. Â I felt that way too. But after replacing every component on my machine, I haven't had a hitch with XP. A Techie told me that the Athlon XP+ processors are designed to run on XP because they process so fast that Win 98 can't digest the information fast enough. I don't know if I was being snowed or not, but my machine runs a TON better since I got XP.

Nute Gunray Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 I'll probably cling to 98 until the day that something I want doesn't work on 98. Plus i get to avoid the "game X doesn't work right with XP" thing. Â And I was underwhelmed by linux. tuxracer and gnibbles were the only advantages redhat had over windows.
edlib Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 Microsoft is currently in the process of disavowing all knowledge of it's previous Operating Systems. All OSes from 95 and before are now officialy unsupported, and 98 is slated for this treatment in the very near future. (I forget the timetable, but I think it was a couple of months from now.) That means no new patches and such,.. which might not be an issue for most folks. ME can't be far behind.
Gold leader Posted February 3, 2003 Posted February 3, 2003 The nvidia drivers now work, so I can run UT2003 (demo) besides Tuxracer, Gnibbles and SameGnome
Nute Gunray Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 I forgot about samegnome! i love that game. i played it so much last semester that i set such a high score that not even i can break it. it's kinda sad.
Gold leader Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 My GF and I achieved a score of 4210. It seems to be unbreakable for me on my own, which not sad but kind of sweet.
Jem Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 I can't seem to break my record in Space Cadet Pinball
