RSX0Cool
I have a linksys router. I know i have to open up ports to get a server up and runing. I know the ports that Jedi Knight II uses are 28060 and 28081. I went into my router configuration and went to the FORWARDING tab. Now what must i do? I dont know the first thing about computers except how to run a JK2 Server. Someone please teach me what to do to open the ports once I am in the FORWARDING tab. Thanks! rjspring
I had a lot of problems until I set the dedicated server computer as the DMZ host...go into the Linksys configuration setup and hit advanced then hit dmz host. Enter in the IP address of the dedicated server computer and hit apply. Doing this will make your computer totally valunerable, but it was the only way I could get my server to run and also be displayed on the list of available servers in the game. When the game is finished and you want to put the dedicated server back behind the firewall, set the value back to zero.
RSX0Cool
Is the only possible way to get a dedicated server to run? I heard that if i go to the forwarding tab and open the jedi outcast ports, i would be able to make a server. im using a gateway pc with an intel pentium 3 processor it has 348 megs of ram with an nvidia 64mb video card. i got into my router configuration screen, advanced, forwarding. but what do i have to type in to open the ports 28060 and 28081? RSX0Cool
Ok i have a question. I did all that you said and modified my router. I opened the ports that jedi outcast originally uses. i enabled them and put them as TCP Protocall instead of UDP Protocall. Is that right? I disabled block WAN or whatever. I also went into DMZ Host and changed the number at the end which was 0 to 103. Now what do i do? I created a server and people still cannot connect to it. Help! LOL! Sorry to bug u guys but routers really stink!

Andy867
Well, try posting the specs of the server.cfg but make sure to leave out the password stuff for security reasons. That way we can help point out the little things that might help get your server underway.
