C'jais
Americans do things their own way. The Irish do things their way. Happily, rumours of growing pessimism have been proved wrong. And if all else fails, you can always make your own UN, now that the old has been rendered defunct.

Dude, it's Onion.com - but it's funny how some arab media network mistook some of the "articles" on it for real news... http://www.liebreich.com/LDC/HTML/Opinion/TimCollins.html great speech though. Agreed. How it should be done.
Eldritch
All interesting commentaries, but I liked the message of the Irish one best, even if I don't agree with it's thoroughly religious overtones. The Onion is excellent at providing much needed relief to a rather serious situation. It seems that humor, as usual, provides an excellent insight into humanity (as well as current events). I think it accurately demonstrates the steps the US took to find another solution to war. 2 - I agree. 3 - Funny. I didn't know that you were the American government and were able to proclaim such an official statement. 4 - It'll never happen.

Whenever something is very persuasive, you should take a step back and see if it has any compelling evidence behind it, or whether it's just compelling words.
