Keiran Halcyon
I just bought a CD writer, and seems to need a pentium 500 or better and more than 64 mb RAM write. Is that true, or it is only that there are no lesser computers anymore? I got a 166 pentium with 48 MB of ram...

Unless you want to update you computer, but that means you must get a new harddisk or extend the harddisk. Maybe it's possible that you can put in a second harddisk so that you can match the 64 RAM that's needed. I suppose all new computers are higher. I also had a computer from 1996 and I bought myself a new one last year, it wasn't that expensive, I could completly select every part myself. If you've got other question let's go! swphreak
1997!! wow nowadays that's probably called really obsolete. Heck, my computer is probably "Obsolete," my dad got it 2 years ago..... I don't get all the specs needed for Burners, but I have a DVDplayer/burner in one with 512 MB RAM so I guess it works for me.... my dad knows this technical stuff
Keiran Halcyon
I got two harddisks, one main, 1'6 GB, other split in two, 1'5 GB each...
Jedi Skywalker
I don't know how it will work when you already got two harddiscs. Try it or upgrade again or buy new computer. I know it's a hard choice but maybe it will work out fine. My old computer couldn't handle a writer, but this can. It's a year old and it's getting old. Try it out
Keiran Halcyon
My cousin said that the requirements are possibly for the program used to copy discs, and that it could work, but i should use the lower speed and find a program for low-end computers (anybody knows one? -that works good?). I'm going to try it out, (wish me luck! )
Jedi Skywalker
I wish you luck and I'll cross my fingers. Which program are you going to use to burn CD's?
Keiran Halcyon
I havent installed it yet, it comes with nero, but it seems that it need a superb computer, if you know any old program tell me
Jedi Skywalker
Keiran, you mean Nero Ahead? I've got it also but as far as I know it doesn't need a super computer. Mine isn't a supercomp either. AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 256 MB RAM 63% available 19083 MB Do you think this is a super comp? I can copy with every speed I want to compatible up to 40x max. Jedi Skywalker
I'v taken they manual. Minimal requirement 16MB RAM needed and you must have 12 MB space on your harddrive. Think you've got that?
Keiran Halcyon
yes i think it it the program, but you may have an older version. DO you know where can i download it?
Keiran Halcyon
I read the manual of the program that comes with the Writer (nero-ahead) and it says it needs 500 mhz and 64 MB of RAM. So if i can find an older version, it may work and the system requirements be for the program not the writer..... let's hope...

Keiran Halcyon
Well...this is what happened. My aunt was going to give me a PC (she doesnt use it anymore) and i thought that is was one that she had years ago, and about a 200 something pentium so i didnt expected much. But before putting the Writer we asked her how was it and it was a 533 with 256 MB RAM geforce 32 MB 20 GB and a writer! so we returned the one we bought. Not much, comapred to newer PC, but i can play loads of new SW games (and i hope KOTOR TOO) anyway, i will not let it get as obsolete and the old one Sorry for wasting your time (thanks for the help anyway)
