I'm sure many of you have heard of teh Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl, which is basically a movie based on the disney world ride Pirates of the Caribbean from which ron gilbert got his monkey island idea from (although the movie has very little in relation with the game apart from some story points like the governors daughter and the walking skeletons and so on). now, i'm also sure that some of you may have seen the trailer for it (and for those of you who haven't, it's on this site, click it).

well, another website has just come up with another trailer (i don't know if it's on the official site or not, but it was another website) which actually has mvoie footage unlike the first trailer. it's just been announced, so go an see it.

here it is,

click it

it looks really cool, with great CGI effects and loadsa action, so see it now.

Peace

Neil

The only Turner in the movie is played by Orlando Bloom. If you're referring to the heroine, then she's the Natalie Portman look-alike in Ep 1 & 2, playing the decoy. She was also in Bend It Like Beckham.

i thought she looked a lot like natalie portman, but i knew it wasn't her because i knew her name was... um... well, i knew natalie portman wasn't in the film. nice looking i'd have to say, from a male POV. and yes, Jeoffry Rush does look a lot like Lechuck when he turns into a rotting skeleton, but the graphics are still really cool, and the storyline looks promising (if not slightly clichéd)

produced by Jerry bruckheimer, directed by gore verbinsky, starring johnny depp and orlando bloom (however you think of him), can't be that bad. plus the trailer makes it look promising, you can hardly tell it's disney (and they did a great treasure island)

i agree, and the 60's(?) version of Treasure island was done very well in my opinion. i liked that fact that the book (not the film because i want to give credit to Robert Lewis Stevenson), whilst being a pirate story still had human elements to it, like the friendship developed between Jim and Silver and the betrayle jim felt in the apple barrel and then the eventual turning of Silver as he found that he like jim. that was good.

As far as I remember, I've enjoyed pirate stuff. I liked the old Disney Treasure Island film, and I still have a huge collection of pirate lego sets.

So I *REALLY* hope Pirates of the Caribbean does substantially well, because it's been soooo long since we've had a good pirate movie. If the movie goes well, hopefully we'll see more pirates films made, either from disney or other companies. Maybe even Monkey Island.
