Kyren Valinor Posted April 27, 2003 Posted April 27, 2003 Self-explanatory really Do we have any of these? If we don't, I think It would help the recruiting and advertising aspect of the PA. I'd gladly help get the IRC off the ground If someone could teach me how to set up the channel. I could also help with the website

setsuko Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 1: download mIRC 2: read the help file. It's not harder than that!
UnfrozenCaveman Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 A dumb question, I know... What is a mIRC channel?
setsuko Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 IRC means "Internet Relay Chat". mIRC is a client for IRC, that means, only one of the programs that supports IRC. One of the better, though. IRC is a way to communicate on the internet. One person sets up the IRC "room" on a server. So, #galaxies is an irc room, and it is located on the irc.zirc.org server (this is the SWGalaxies.net chat room). Then, other people can enter that room, and communicate, or 'chat', as it is known as. The people who runs the room are known as ops, and they can decide the rules for the room, who to invite, whether or not to use passwords, who to kick, who to ban, which bots to use etc. A bot is a program that acts as a visitor or op.
UnfrozenCaveman Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 Thanks!! I'm now quite educated on the subject, thanks Set!
