jp-30
Hi, I dl'd Scouttrooper's awesome Ponda Baba model the other day (from pcgamemods.com ), thought the textures lacked definition and had a go at reskinning. Scouttrooper likes the textures, so I'm gonna make some different team colour variations (rather than just a jacket recolour) and he's going to do a v2.0 release. Crowy
you are one fantasmagoric awesome skinner jp, really truly amazing stuff!!!
SiThLoRd><1000
I as well thought the skin lacked something. Your skin is very good and textures as well but it's a bit off. There are just a few things that I'd like to mention just so you have them to make a decision on. The pants are not that much darker than the shirt on Ponda (close to the same color actually) and the face is a navy blue with a black "beard" behind and around the tusks. Just thought I'd point this out. If you need pics to see what I mean, just reply.
jp-30
The 3 photos I posted in this thread are what I used as reference (plus some action figure shots); http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=98475 If you have any better shots - preferably screengrabs from Star Wars; A New Hope, that would be great. It won't take more than a couple of minutes to tweak the colour, tone & brightness of the textures I built to make them look more like the Walrusman from the movie. SiThLoRd><1000
Thanks for replying. I saw those photos and I think they are good but the lighting makes them decieving. In one of them, the colors look close to the ones I described. I was going off the action figure and movie stills. I found a picture that is a comic drawing that lists Ponda and Dr. Evazan's characteristics, etc. and for Ponda it says Color: black/gray. I have some other shots from the movie that you can see too, just PM me your e-mail. Go off of what you think is right, but I seem to find it a little off. Thanks. jp-30
I'm going to try and get some screen captures off my Spec Ed VHS to work from. And Action Figures aren't the best colour reference out there. I'm going to dirty up the jacket too - but the thing did have to be new at one time or another. Who's to say my skin doesn't capture the Walrusman a year before the Obi-Wan encounter at Mos Eisley? jp-30
I screengrabbed stills from ANH. Then I dulled & dirtied the jacket, made the head more blue-grey, the shirt smoother & grubbier, and the trousers lighter.
jp-30
Despite earlier indications, I am going to do a simple jacket recolour for the teams variations. Then when I get the chance, try and use the model for a brand new skin of one of those 4 eyed aqualish. I should have all the finished Ponda Baba textures & the icons to you, Scouttrooper, in a day or two.
