Lujayne
Can someone tell me what a "corrupt installation file" is, exactly, and how can I get around it to finish installing this program I want? ¬_¬ ;___;
Ikhnaton
basically that means that a file you need to install a program is ****ed up and the install can't be properly done. basically, you're screwed unless you can get a clean file.

Zoom Rabbit
*(Uses bunny magic to reach through cyberspace and rap the monitor screen on Guildy's errant computer with the tip of a sword.)* You listen here, computer. You straighten up, fly right and swallow that darn file for your mistress like a good machine, or I will *smack* you up anime quicktime and see if that doesn't convince you of the futility of disobeying your human owner! Okay, Guildy...try it now.
Jabba The Hunt
And now to tell you what everyone else has, but make it sound far more complicated and far less professional. Assuming this program has been downloaded off the internet. Well basically what happens is the server sends the file as a stream a bits to the computer, each bit is either a 0 or a 1, now every so often the server sends a checksum (or parity) check for each chunk, the client computer (urs) checks that it gets the same results and if so carrys on with the next chunk. After a while your file gets downloaded, now very ocassionaly the error check can fail to detect an error that has occured, this corrputs the file and means you cant install the program. Similar idea if its off a cd, but its the cd thats buggered (possibly hardware, or the soft file). ps. This was great revision for my exams
