Xx_Patman_xX Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Iam not sure if i read it correct, but I think I saw somewhere that the game will be "reset" at launch and that every thing that happened in beta will not exist. Can anyone confirm this?
StarCords Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 I don't have proof but all character files will be erased and all shops, changes made to locations etc. will be deleted. (Woo hoo! 500 points! time to go get me an italics name! Yee ha!) Edit: Oo, it was worth it. But now I have 0 points. Well off to the Father Torque Foundation for me)
-=ReApEr=- Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Yes, it is correct. The game is reset at launch, so it is fair on the people who did not get in the beta. And have to start all from scratch.
Dark Moon Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 That's good otherwise I could see beta users really taking advantage of us non-betas. "hey I'll sell you this uber-rare womprat hide for only 300 credits" "Really! Wow, thanks!" *Walks off... "Wow, I can't believe there's womprat hides all over out here, these must be worth a fortune!" *Thinks* "Uh-oh..."

The main one though, we will all be equal at the star.
Dr. Zaius Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 They will kinda get a head start, the beta testers, because they know how the game works and they will be able to skip all the instructions/etc that we will have to read in order to play the game.
Xx_Patman_xX Posted May 29, 2003 Author Posted May 29, 2003 Does mean that the econonmy will be pretty weak and unstable at the beggining? Or will this work better for the economy?
Jan Gaarni Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 The economy was the same for the beta starters when they started, and they seem to be doing fine.
Jackrabbit Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 They still have an advantage though because they know their way around the worlds, and they know where all the "goods" are located. It's not that unfair though. [Edit] I really have to stop taking so long on my posts.

And you call that a long post.
Jackrabbit Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 No, I mean I expected to post after Darkmoon's post at 1:59, but I took my sweet old time, and ended up just reiterating what three other people said. And I doubt they’ll do a random respawn. I don’t know that much about making games, but they’ve said they have NPCs walking around town; they’d have to redo all the pathing.
