Sharpe

I know who he's talking about. The Richard Sharpe series, by Bernard Cornwell. My father has read every single one, but they never appealed to me. Still, we've got them all over the house. There's a dog-eared copy of "Sharpes Triumph" sitting right next to me.

never read the books, but the tv series with Sean Bean as sharpe was excellent. I might even be tempted to buy them all on dvd if they get a bit cheaper...

if you like sharpe you might like the Hornblower books, although the tv series of that is pretty crap. I thought the book were good though, although i was a lot younger at the time.

Sean Bean Rules...

I never saw the Sharpe tv series...mostly because my wife wanted to watch something else and she must be obeyed. :D Actually, I don't watch much TV at all.

I've never read the books either, but I might give that a go - a visit to the library should sort that out. ;)

As for people not knowing about Sharpe in this context, why is that surprising? It's UK-centric, isn't it? And unfortunately not as many UK series get exported as we have imports from elsewhere. A shame really, because we do at least have some decent serials now and then. Basically, if you're not exposed to it, how are you supposed to know about it? :)
