te27ch Posted June 2, 2003 Posted June 2, 2003 OK I've had the full game of JK for about a year now (June 5, 2002. One of the best days of my life) and i've been active on the Zone. One thing i noticed is that JK gamers seem to have their own sort of slang that describes stuff. Or is this gamer slang and i'm just sheltered from other games???... ok here's my compendium: w00t: cool. really really cool. w00tness: pretty much the same as w00t n00b: newbie, or not newbie but an insult... OwN: To Kick *** at OwNaGe: the art/process of owning Lagger: sometimes combined with n00b, someone with a 1k modem that lives in siberia Haxor: not sure about this one... only saw it once when i was using my saber throw pistol (Hehehehe) Anything else to add? u got more words/better definitions? no im definitely not a n00b, but i havent advanced to the rank of level builder/cog maker yet. im sorta "middle class Jedi Knight" heheheh "n00b OwNaGe" games at MERC oasis are funny to watch..........
Pedro The Hutt Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Actually that slang came forth from Quake 3 Arena o.o and other such games, it's commonly known as l33t
TheMadDoofer Posted June 3, 2003 Posted June 3, 2003 Is that pronounced like "late" or "leet"? I've always wanted to know
Pedro The Hutt Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Leet, since the 3 representeds an E o.o it Leet originated from the word "Elite" as well , those silly gamers.
BeastMaster Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Also called Leetspeak or Haxxorspeak Originally posted by te27ch n00b: newbie, or not newbie but an insult... OwN: To Kick *** at OwNaGe: the art/process of owning Also pwn or pwnage (o = p). Haxor: not sure about this one... only saw it once when i was using my saber throw pistol (Hehehehe) haxor = hacker. IOW, people who have saber-throw pistols.
MentatMM Posted June 26, 2003 Posted June 26, 2003 This sort of lingo has been around since the Quake 2 days and before in almost every FPS. You're just sheltered.
OmegaNothing Posted July 7, 2003 Posted July 7, 2003 Ye but many of those words are now cliché's like n00b, that obviously originated from newbie, meaning new and sucks but so many "noobs" use that word themselves that its not even insulting if your called a noob.
