RDRAM or DDR SDRAM?

I don't know that RDRAM really has the support to last in the long term in the main stream. After all, the P4 was released with RDRAM only supported in the chipsets, soon Intel fixed that.

Stick with DDR SDRAM, as DDR2 will soon be on the way, which makes use of both the "up" and "down" cycle of the RAM, along with combining the write speed of both banks of memory to do writes. IE PC2700 RAM becomes effectively PC5400...

Well apparently RD Ram has(or did have at one time) more potential than DDR Ram(but not compared to DDR2). However, now that most of the major computer comapanies in the industry have decided to switch their support to DDR Ram for their models, support for RD has dropped drastically. Many companies have stopped producing RD ram, and as the supply is getting lower and lower, the price is getting higher and higher. RD is being supported less and less, so I suggest you simply go with DDR now, instead of going with RD now and then having to switch to DDR later which is quite likely.

And as Bcanr2d2 said DDR2 is soon on the way so if you want to get that, not only will you have to buy the DDR2 Ram, but you will also have to buy a new motherboard that supports DDR ram, because your old RD supporting motherboard is incompatible.

Going with DDR from the start makes a lot more sense. Dollars and cents...
