gmarti01
Hey elib, I checked that BattleStats group out and they are still pretty involved as you can be with actually playing XWA. They still try to organize WoWs and such so im gonna try to see what i can get down there with em. So basically Loyalist this means we can finally get into some starfighers and see if we still got it. Admiral, just cuz i was here 3 years ago dosent mean i know "how newbs were treated", i avoided posting in general forums and stuck to strategy and shooting people into space dust. And i dont wanna hear anything about well this place isnt about the game anymore cuz this is still an X-Wing Alliance forum, there are plenty other forums to BS about SW stuff on the web. Ok ill let you people know of the progress with battlestats PS Nitro, i really couldnt choose one of the choice you gave me, so i guess you'll have to send me that spoon
Admiral Odin
We actually don't really talk about SW here either.
Nitro
Originally posted by gmarti01 And i dont wanna hear anything about well this place isnt about the game anymore cuz this is still an X-Wing Alliance forum... Actually, this forum isn't an XWA forum. This is a general, off-topic discussion forum. The forum for game discussion is the "XWA General" forum. Would a mod kindly move this thread over to the proper forum?
gmarti01
OHHHHH, excuse me Nitro for cluttering your precious forum. Im interested in knowing what would motivate someone to ask a mod to move a thread; you know no one is holding a blaster to your head and making you read the thread
Nitro
What's motivating me? The fact that that's where it should be, and it's usually done anyway. Oh, and I want to make an amendment to my previous statement about never having met a 22 year old that acted like you... I forgot about the guy that beat the **** out of my girlfriend back when they were going out a couple years ago. From what I've seen so far, you have the same personality as he does. Of course, you could be an entirely different person, but until I see you act otherwise, you're no better than him. One last thing: Prove me wrong, because I like getting along with the people I associate with...
gmarti01
Wait, i'm not sure if i understand. You are comparing me to some scumbag who beat the crap out of your gf? Who the heck are you to come across like that? you have no right to say that. I dont even know where u came from gettin involved in a situation that had nothing to do with you, but you've really ticked me off. Go find something better to do. ANd surely i would like to get along with people too, but insulting remarks like that wont get you any good marks
Nitro
If you'd actually read my post, you'd notice I never insulted you. I said that was how you came across, not that that's the way you are. I come across as an ******* too sometimes, people tell me (like I did to you), and I make amends. That said, I'm sorry if I came across as insulting, because that was not my intention. I was merely pointing out that the image you're projecting to us here is very similar to that of an abuser. I'm relatively sure that you're not that type of person, but as I said, your behaviour thus far has done nothing to back that up.

Since you started posting you have been very rude and you have probably also insulted some people. If you plan on staying here, lighten up. gmarti01
Well Nitro, I appreciate you clearing that up and i fully accept your apology. I apologize if i came across as abusive like you said but i was brought to that point by your 'lil pal Rebel Loyalist who tried to tell me that calling me a newbie bitch was just a joke. It was a very poor judgement on his part to make that assumption. Now that that situation has boiled over you will see that I am not an abusive person, just a freaking starfighter pilot who is lookin for a game and a victim (preferbably Loyalist )
gmarti01
Admiral, to make such a comment as you did, you are obv not reading my posts in other forums such as XWA Genral and Recruiting where i have been quite polite and respectful. If you have time maybe you should research that. I am quite surprised that someone of your "rank and stature" would make such an uninformed comment
Nitro
Now, to me, the fact that he's got 16 previous newbie bitches would, to me, imply an joke of some sort... An inside one, perhaps, but a joke nonetheless. But that's just me.
gmarti01
Good observation Nitro, i didnt consider that. Perhaps there is some wisdom in your afterall ON A SIDE NOTE: I just caught the 2nd half of EpII on HBO and although it was at times critisized for sub-par acting, you have to appreciate the confident acting of Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee. Their acting experience over such new-comers like Natalie Portman and Haydeen Christensian (sp) really shows through. (Altough i do believe Portman is a great actress its just that her role in this fil is poorly scripted) And does anyone realize that both C-3P0 and R2 refuse to inform Luke in EpIV that they know that Anakin Skywalker is his father? I mean obviously they know what happens to Anakin considering that they are together throughout EpII. Anyone have any insight on that?
Admiral Odin
gmartio1: I did not read any of your other post because I don't generally to those forums. Nor will I look up your previous posts since I really don't care. My point was that when you entered this paticular forum you were hostile. Few will look at your previous post to find your true personality. Most will judge based upon these post on this forum and not the Recruiting one. The main point is that when entering a new forum remember that your first couple of posts will determine how you are viewed. Do not count on previous post to show your nice, when your first posts indicate otherwise. --------------------------------------------------- RL's newbie bitch is a long running joke. If you don't like it just ignore it, or make a joke about it.
Nitro
Just a thought about that... Based on how casually Uncle Ben suggested Artoo's memory be wiped, I'd wager it was a fairly common practice after buying a used droid. I mean, I flatten my hard drives before I sell 'em (and after buying 'em for that matter)... Actually, I DND-wipe 'em. It formats the drive, then writes garbage to every sector, and repeats the process four more times (for a total of five, for the ones that can't count *glances at Jem*), so there's no way any original data can survive. For the record, DND stands for Department of National Defense. If I'm that paranoid about it, then I can understand droids being wiped after changing hands... I know I would.
Admiral Odin
Yes the droids had their memories wipped. It is standard practice I believe to have droids memory wipped as maintenance.
gmarti01
Admiral, if you are not gonna bother to read other posts of mine to find out what kind of person I really am, than i would really appreciate it if you not judge me. You are makin the same mistake that Loyalist made. I'd appreciate it if you just not get involved in my affairs Nitro: I hear what you are saying about erasing R2s memory, but i still find it foggy. It will be interesting to see how the droids come into the Alliance. Any ideas?
Nitro
One quick note about what Admiral said: You can't really expect people to bother to go to a forum they never frequent, just to check up on someone. What they see here, is what they'll see forever. The world runs on first impressions... And I'm a former telemarketer... Trust me. Ok, ok... I know it's a bit much to ask you to trust a telemarketer, but just this once... Pweeeeze? On to the droids: When Anakin heads for the dark side, I doubt he'd bring anything along for the ride, much less a droid, meaning they'd be left with (most likely) Amidala, who would end up in the early version of the rebellion, and the droids would just be passed on wherever they were needed. gmarti01
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Nitro, you used to be a telemarketer???? On that note, I will never crack a wise remark in your direction again, cuz in that job i'm sure you have received enough abuse . Hey in case you were wondering, I got in with the New Republic and joined their Navy. I'm gonna be participating in a WoW next week. So fast ! They still havent told me what media they are using to host these games. Sucks to still be in the dark about that
Nitro
I'm still a phone monkey. I do tech support for Aliant's dial-up and DSL services... But inbound (they call you) is still a lot better than outgoing (surveys and selling, both of which I've done). And I'm the former CO of the RAL. We were a just-for-fun squadron made up of, actually, quite a few of the forumites. Haven't played XWA in a year and a half. Once I get my new PC built, I'll have the hard drive space (two 120GB drives, and that's gonna be my gaming rig) to load up most of my games, since all my MP3's are just gonna stay on the one I'm using now after I turn it into a server, I'll have to get back in. I used to be pretty sharp in a B-Wing (scrimming with a squad, not 1 on 1), believe it or not... Now the only game I play is Jane's 688(i) Hunter/Killer. gmarti01
Sorry if i offended you about the telemarketing thing, but at least its for something techinically respectful. I live in NYC and I just graduated with a bachelor's of Computer Engineering and I cant find a job ! How embarrassing is that???? Im having a grad party on sat and my whole family is gonna be askin about it, its gonna suck. Hopefully ill just be drunk by the time they get there I may have to move back to PA where i went to school Hey, you shouldnt be ashamed that you play Jane's games over SW, i have Jane's JSF and WWII fighters and they are both awesome games. Im really excited about playing XWA. Thats cool that you were formidable in a B-Wing, that shows that you arent some coward pilot who hides behind a better craft such as an A-Wing or Tie Defender. I've always enjoyed flying the X-Wing but when i was in the Second Imperium 3 years ago I was a Inteceptor pilot
Admiral Odin
I actually found the X-wing to be superior to the A-wing. If you really want to get into xwa you should go to http://www.xwaupgrade.com
gmarti01
You can defiantely make the claim that an X-Wing is superior to an A-Wing esspicially with a better hull rating and more cannons to link, but i find that a good pilot can near be impossible to kill in an A-wing unless you are in a Tie Advanced or something of the sort. An A-wing pilot can accelerate and can fly much faster if a player redirects some shield strength to enegines. I know from experience that you dont wanna get into a turning war with a sharp A-wing pilot. About xawupgrade, i went to that site a week ago and downloaded a bunch of stuff. They are some great artisits i must admit and have really enhanced the game
Nitro
No offence taken about the telemarketer thing... I make jokes about it all the time anyway. And I agree completely about bad pilots hiding in good ships. Idiots in Defenders were the bane of my B-Wing existance... The only time I condoned A-Wing use was when I knew the guy was a good pilot, because a good pilot in an a-wing is unstoppable. A bad pilot in an a-wing is a laser magnet... Good for drawing fire, but not much else... And for the record, I personally prefer the X-Wing to the A-Wing.
edlib
Me, Zoomie, and Redwing are the resident A-Wing speed-freeks 'round these parts. It's funny though... I didn't like the A-Wing in Rogue Leader. It was sooo fast it was almost uncontrolable. After I finished the game I went back and replayed all the A-Wing missions with a B-Wing and did a lot better. But in the X-Wing games it's an "A" for me! Glad to hear you found folks to play with. If you plan to stick around here you will have to take the things we all say as a lot more tongue-in-cheek than you have so far. Most of us are jokers, and there's a lot of newbie-teasing as a form of hazing that happens. The new folks that laugh it off or give it back (jokingly) are the ones who manage to survive and thrive here. (When I first came here I lurked for several days before I ever posted to get a feel for the place and the personalities.) But we have had a lot of trouble with a couple of folks in the past who tried to barge thier way way in and re-make this place in thier own image, and they eventually had to be forceably removed,.. so we can get pretty defensive around new people sometimes too. gmarti01
Edlib, from the story you tell I can completely understand why you guys would be defensive about a newb coming and posting on your forums, but you most remember my intial inquries were regarding finding a clan to play with and I have found that now. However, i must admin that "hazing" as you put it, newbies on a forum is quite odd. Hazing is generally meant for a real life fraternity or sports teams and what not; not for a public forum. But none the less, i take the joke in stride, and maybe if i can convince some of you to join up and play some XWA games, then maybe i can have my turn at playing a joke It is good to hear that you are an 'a-wing speed freak', like Nitro said they defiantley are fun to chase, haha. PS I jsut finished watching AoTC for the 2nd time today on HBO. How do you guys suppose that 3PO never mentioned to Luke that Anakin was his father. I mean obviously he has spend alot of time with Anakin by the time he ends up with Luke
