All of you who like poem writing post your poems here! Here's two of my works:

Mother Nature

Her hair is like the summer breeze

Her eyes are in a gentle freeze

Her face is like a golden ray

Her touch is soft like flowers of May

Her walk is graceful on the prairie

Her spirit is high and very merry

Her name has not the slightest denature

Her name in this world is Mother nature

The Reign of Sauron

He lives near a mountain

A fiery fiery fountain

That smokes the smog of shadows

That kills all of the meadows

He reigns with terror and strife

With the Nazgul with their knife

With orcs oh so foul

With their terrorizing scowl

The eye always watches

For the ring who put notches

In the poor man who bore

The golden circle of sore

Darkness spreads quickly

Darkness spreads thickly

Covering the entire world

For it to be forever whirled

Good will flee

Good will plea

That they stay alive

That they survive

But good will rise

And destroy the evil eyes

That watched them for ages

And put them in cages

Sauron will return

He will never die

And Frodo will yurn

And forever try

To destroy the Ring

And not cling

To the evil that it has

His strength will mass

And the ring will burn in fiery gas

This is getting way out of hand, I thought some good poemists would post here *sigh* oh well.... :D

PS. This is great! I sent one of my poems to http://www.poetry.com about 3-4 months ago, and I just got a letter today that they wanted to publish it in one of their books!!!!! Oh, and here's the poem that I sent:

My Girl

Of all the people I'd like to know

I'd really like to know you so

I've glanced at you so very few oftens

Thinking that I've always been forgotten

You probably never even glanced

And I haven't had the nerve to ask

If you would like to be my girl

My entire life would forever swirl

You would be my dream come true

The question is why and how and who

THIS IS GREAT!!!!!

Grey Stone

Shallow, deep

still, standing still

confusing the manic me

your a world a shower of

disruption

somber sacharine

turns in my stomach

exhausting are my last

attempts to move you

pushing and pulling...

still standing still

you speak more when nothing is said

as the keystone of my existence

still standing still

without you holding up our spirits

the past just falls

and hits me in the face

still standing still

sledgehammers cannot crush

you're vibrant lifelessness

holding you in adoration

still standing still

I covet your millstone vitality...

There is ONE

or

I

to begin with

TWO is

WE

and in logical order

THREE is

YOU

FOUR is simple

LOVE

and then the beat repeats to the opposite

four letter word

that of

HATE

next is FIVE

ANGER

most definitely is SIX

to

DETEST

finality reaches SEVEN

and we

DESPISE

lately comes EIGHT

the feeling of

BETRAYAL

NINE, we lay our bodies down drained

APATHETIC

then wake to the light which is TEN

LONELINESS

ELEVEN

being two separate ones

like YOU

and I

an odd unstable number

a time of Instability

which is what Love and Life

are all about

TEN leads not to

ELEVEN

but just back to ONE

or

I

you can COUNT on that.

What a treasure you are

they make references to you in books,

you are in the Dictionary for sure;

a thing most extra-ordinary

living 350 Million years ago

Speckled with five horns and no ears.

What would the Golden Realm of the Terrible Lizards

have been like without you?

Rex and his evil friends might have won.

But you saved the day, you paved the way

Mankind should thank you;

for you are my favourite Dinosaur of all time

no matter what the Greeks say.

I am Insane as you see,

I am a Bane for myself and for you

and for Life;

What went Wrong? Why so Naive?

Why so arrogantly Stubborn.

Fall into place in life, create no waves

be a Cog.

I'll tell you something about Reality

more precisely I will leave this for you to think over,

in plain english;

the world of grey the world of the Sane

where Lunatics are locked away

for our safety and Societies,

you hold the answers you have the key

we are all locked up

the Sane people are free.

Why then is there Travesty?

Chaos, Murder, Misery?

If Sanity is the desired state,

If Reality the sensible place

of War and Hate

if all Life is, is a big Rat Race

and Money

then I am Insane.

nothing will change,

and the Sane will be held to blame

all over a question of Clear Thinking.

My accomplishment is that I submitted my poem to http://www.poetry.com 4 months ago, and now they sent me a letter saying it was made a semi-finalist for the International Poetry contest. Also, they want to publish it in a collection of poems called Eternal Portraits. I'll give you a snippet:

Dear Paul, after carefully reading and discussing your poem, "My Girl," our Selection Committee has certified your poem as a semi-finalist in our International Open Poetry Contest. Your poem will automatically be entered into the final competition held in August 2003. ... finalist... prizes... 1,000... that's not all... In celebration of the unique talent you have displayed, we also wish to publish your poem in what promises to be the most highly sought after collections of poetry we have ever published...

THIS IS WONDERFUL!!!!!

Also, those are terrific poems Eggplant and Groovy :):thmbup1: :thmbup1: :thmbup1:

I think for this thread, we will allow the double and triple posts because damn, if you got some good stuff, spit it out, and man I have read some really good stuff here. I have alot of stuff myself, but not quite as good as Eggplant's stuff. (Grim Fandango, w00tness!!! ;) )

Drenched

Skin feels so wet

gave up trying to regret.

Eyes are filling up again.

Visions are thicker in pairs of ten,

or maybe eleven...

Our faces are cut to even imperfection.

Do you remember how you cam this far?

At the stoplight, you never think of where you are.

He keeps laughing all the time,

instead of hanging in the door,

try putting your head back in your mind.

The tape is always stuck in rewind.

See how regret never forgets.

Can't be to sure reasoning with yourself.

Who is really? Nobody's pure.

Ever notice how it doesn't matter when your at the stoplight?

Standing on the corner.

This time it seems that i'm bored most of the time.

Walked down to the lake shore today.

Tripping over bodies I once knew.

Some faces familiar, but only few.

At parties there's nothing to do,

I'll just wait and get invited too.

It's still a few, and maybe some.

Well I'll be a son of a gun.

Yes I know I can't be right tonite.

Father was an aquaintnance who probably was my dad,

but don't cry over that, I never said I was sad,

but if you are, then I'll surely be glad.

Cause I never cared until I got to the stoplight.

Then it all hit me at once.

I could, but I couldn't forget who I was.

Just sitting at the stoplight.

Think

What makes our brain think

What makes our mind clink

What makes us think hard

Until our brains are jarred

Is it lore we seek

Do we study the meek

Will we read books

And measure looks

The wise will ponder

And think about yonder

The smart will question

And make a suggestion

Knowledge is what we really want

It’s what we chase after like a hunt

But once we have discovered

We realize there is more to uncover

The hunt for knowledge will never end

We will search again and again and again

Night

The wind, the stars, the moon

The everlasting gloom

The fall of the sun

The smell of rum

That makes the night go by

The feel of cold

The noise of old

The fear of wolves

The sound of hooves

That makes me almost cry

Let the sun rise

Let the moon go to its demise

And let everybody wake

For the entire daylight’s sake

Whispers in your breath,

Flowers and golden eyes.

Words and whistles of song,

short abreviations of faith.

Sun goes down,

beneath shady tree.

Silent murmer of nature's speech.

Joy thinning as you run away,

only to come back again,

and lay down with the man,

you cannot understand.

Mentioning phrases of promises

to be broken.

But I run away,

and come back again.

Only to hear them

over and over and over and over again.

To keep meaningless things from ending.

And let nature have it's way...

He creeps, and crawls

came and stole my breath

don't save a prayer for the slayer

of those eternally slept

taught us to build

education swept up on our minds.

Taking civilizations down

to their own death.

Looted the forces of nature,

using all knowledge found,

feeding on it's strength,

gaining the power to control...

every living thing around...

Convinced us to help

him complete his task,

rewarding us with a share of his facts.

This continued and decades passed.

Forming a solution,

to defeat our fear of the unknown.

The product was finally complete,

their was nothing like it,

so others built one just like it,

only for the sake of the competition.

To build others, that had to supply them with all they could,

while growing poor steadily, and this is how we go...

Waiting for his toy to explode,

bastard used his skills to manipulate,

by raping nature and it's mate,

to create an evil storm.

We wait for it's destruction...

PHD.

Another Mastermind, genius of the times...

What did you find?

That kept U(.)S(.) from falling behind?

To each day do we return,

a solid portion of restlessness,

to our little cave in the sky.

Hanging discomforts on a hook,

somewhere behind the sofa,

which is behind the T. V.

Where all rest in the waking hour,

watch them dry up, nail them to the wall,

and roll in apathy.

During the limited time available.

Chewing at flesh,

biting back at the wind.

Animosity makes a steel heart rust.

Is it no wonder why the concourse will crawl?

Now, how long until apocalypse?

Hang all troubles on a hook, and leave them out to die.

All souls must fly free,

before the door is closed...
