theneb
Just to make people a bit more vigilant, the spammers are using messages such as the below. First time I saw this I was about to reply but there is a fatal flaw in the message, it says foxsports.net but has a hotmail signature. Thus reply saying "Sorry you have the wrong address", and you'll get spam. " From: "Phil Newman" <philnewman60@foxsports.net> Subject: Cheers mate Date: Fri, 01 Aug 2003 15:39:12 +0100 To: Dear Mike Thank you for the pressies today it was typical of your generosity, I felt very embarassed after you left because I thought the bottles in the bag was wine,Nice surprise though. You also done us a big favour lending us the dough it allows me to spend a bit of time with Jane and baby.your a good mate mike and we appriciate all you've done for us.Thanks again love phil and jane ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com "
Moosferatu
Better solution. Don't open e-mails from unknown addresses.

(such as When will the demo of Bad Timing be ready?) --Erwin That is true, but I wouldn't give out my personal address. I would set up another account for the website. That way it wouldn't matter how much spam I got (but like I said before I do enjoy deleting it). Plus, it pretty easy to tell what is spam and what is not. I would also say on the site I would not open any e-mails with attachments or embeded files, unless I knew what they were before hand and was expecting them. That would pretty much take care of the problem. I have also thought about having a required subject line, but that might be going over the top. AGZanthia
Sometimes they put in subject line subject that begins with 're:'. And I think its really stupid, 'cause I know what messages I did sent and its never even close to what comes after that 're:'
Firefoot
I'm not sure if it is a flaw... you can set a different return address on your mails... so send if from a@b.c and click reply and it will be sent to d@e.f... ps. I don't know if HoTMaiL does support this... normal e-mail progs do!
Curt
My e-mail account is with AOL and normally I'd get between 20 and 30 spam mails a day. The last 4 or 5 days I've only had TWO in total, which I find very odd. Anyone got any knowledge as to why this may be? It's made me feel unwanted too. Moosferatu
hehe I too have AOL. I used to get tons of spam, but within the past few months I have stopped getting as much. Maybe they beefed up their blocker.
