Spam Trick

Recommended Posts

Just to make people a bit more vigilant, the spammers are using messages such as the below.

First time I saw this I was about to reply but there is a fatal flaw in the message, it says foxsports.net but has a hotmail signature.

Thus reply saying "Sorry you have the wrong address", and you'll get spam.

Better solution.

Don't open e-mails from unknown addresses.

That's a bit difficult if you're running your own website and every now and then people you don't know ask you questions. (such as When will the demo of Bad Timing be ready?)

That is true, but I wouldn't give out my personal address. I would set up another account for the website. That way it wouldn't matter how much spam I got (but like I said before I do enjoy deleting it). Plus, it pretty easy to tell what is spam and what is not. I would also say on the site I would not open any e-mails with attachments or embeded files, unless I knew what they were before hand and was expecting them. That would pretty much take care of the problem. I have also thought about having a required subject line, but that might be going over the top.

My e-mail account is with AOL and normally I'd get between 20 and 30 spam mails a day. The last 4 or 5 days I've only had TWO in total, which I find very odd. Anyone got any knowledge as to why this may be?

It's made me feel unwanted too. :(;)

...and eventually one ends up with five different email addresses, all full of spam.
