My first actually collecting SW were the action fleets at around the time ESB SE was released in theaters. my first actual purchase of an Action Figure was for Ep2. In 3rd grade, we had that Christmas grab bag thing, and I told the kid I wanted Star Wars, but I got a Star Trek Klingon Warrior. So, I exchanged it for an AF X-Wing.
