If it's just to keep running notes, and I'm supposed to be viewing it at the same time I'm editing it, I'll use a WYSIWYG. I used MS Word when applying for jobs, to keep track of whom I had applied to, and what I had to do next (thank you letter, interview, etc.). (My resume also was in Word, but that's because it's what everyone wants. I'm now worried I may have sent some URLs to hardcore porn sites along with my resume..)
