  1. Me too I guess lol πŸ˜† πŸ‘• I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 3/6 πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  2. I would like to re suggest Garry Chalk, I think he could possibly do an excellent Boen-esque LeChuck I believe but still have it come out sounding his own way. His Willy T Wino in Thimbleweed Park was very similar in tone to say Boen as Dr: Silverman in the terminator films so I believe he could do his own version of that role in VO and have it sound good. I admit I'm not familiar with his more energetic deliveries which could make or break a good Yarrr and whatnot but I couldn't help but notice the similarities when replaying TP recently. I really want to hear his best pirate voice
  3. that was fun, I still don't think I want to know where he keeps it lol πŸ‘• I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 3/6 πŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€ πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ’š πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  4. I'm also a little dude so this way of wearing coats is just life for me lol, I can relate to the image in my head I guess. but yeah I can totally see it as say an ill fitting hand me down, I always thought some of the gold piping etc that was added in later renditions made the coat look more fancy then how I interpreted it. I could easily build the scene in my mind of GB in classic gear, maybe a bit of stubble finding this old tattered pirate coat and adopting it. Add in a scene finding pirate boots and you have a perfect costume progression between 1 and 2 lol
  5. It Is truly weird how the Guybrush MI 2 sprite leaves so much to the brain for interpretation. To me he always looked to be in a coat waaaay too big for him, his hands half covered by the sleeves, the bottom worn from being a bit too long. I fully realize that this is just my brains interpretation and other may see it differently but I think that itself is really interesting
  6. In retrospect I should have gotten that faster πŸ‘• I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 4/6 πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ’› πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ–€πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  7. As someone who spent the better part of the last decade doing exactly that I'm pretty sure you are right. I'm glad I got out of it but hey... I got to run an electronics store and sell games too so it made it worth it I guess lol. One of my former employees has one of my copies of curse lol, knowing anything about Monkey Island always got extra points with me πŸ˜€
  8. I think LeChuck's evolving forms allow best for a voice change (hell zombie form allows for things like decaying vocal chords). I'd like to throw Garry Chalk into the list of potential new VO's, his role as Willy T Wino in TP had a nice timbre to it and I'd like to hear his pirate voice. In more direct regards to Ron's tweet: I too would hope it's Jojo but we haven't heard anything about the voodoo lady or LeChuck (beyond that they couldn't get Boen to return and had his blessing to recast) so they are definitely in the running. We know Alexandra Boyd is back so Elaine is going to be there at least is some fashion. The fact that they mentioned recasting and didn't just straight up say that lechuck wouldn't be returning leads me to think we will see him in some form as well. It doesn't rule out retiring the role completely however and bringing in a bigger villain of some sort (El Carlo sounds fun πŸ˜‰ ). Now the Voodoo lady... It would be odd without her considering her recurring roles in every title so far but... what if she wasn't originally supposed to be that but sort of like an Obi Wan for the first 2 and GB is on his own for the 3rd or something like that. Perhaps the Tales twist hit the nail a little to close to the head so Ron is avoiding that. I will admit however that this is all stretching to find an excuse which itself lends toward her not being the one not returning. I mean it has to be Jojo... right?
  9. One I reccomend (totally non self-promotionally despite me being a Mod there) is the Lucasarts Adventure Fans Discord (I'm sure Mike doesn't mind me leaving a permanent invite here on mojo, anybody interested are welcome and a lot of us are already there)
  10. Good call, I hadn't thought about that and you are probably right πŸ˜€ That ad is excellent πŸ˜€ I like the "Illiteracy-driven icon system" caption πŸ˜€
  11. I managed to upload it to Twitter πŸ˜€ I also put up a MI2 ad that also has the relevant caption "Haunting Secrets from the first game revealed" and a picture of guybrush talking to dread on his ship... I will try to post it here with this again to see if it works... it did not but linking to Twitter image urls did πŸ˜€
  12. It did survive into at lease one release by accident, The MAC CD Game Pack 2 called It The Secret of Monkey Island 2 as well πŸ˜€ I tried to attach an image with it but have had some issues and it won't show
  13. my second guess was a word... I guess lol πŸ‘• I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 3/6 πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  14. See a lot of these while Moderating MI Facebook groups as of late lol πŸ‘• I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 5/6 πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’› πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€ πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ’› πŸ–€πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  15. and of course after I promote this pretty much everywhere I realize I have the image saying chapter 2 instead of 3 *derp* lol Fixed now on youtube at least Thanks to those who have watched πŸ˜€
  16. Hi everybody! Despite having my editing software break horribly I manage to finally finish: Chapter 3: In which I Make the Acquaintance of the Fettucini Brothers, get Shot Out of a Cannon and Go on a Shopping Spree ...after about a week of troubleshooting and almost giving up and moving to new, much more costly software. This is a short quick watch and I might put the first 3 chapter into their own video in the future. The next chapter will be the longest yet at it basically covers the swordfighting trial completely. Even with these issues these have been super fun to make so I hope you enjoy πŸ˜€ I'm determined to continue the series despite any setbacks that have or may occur
  17. In support of that would be this excerpt from "The Memoirs of Guybrush Threepwood: The Monkey Island Years" Now the Canon status of a POV walkthrough written by 2 third parties, while official, could certainly be dubious but hey, it had to be signed off by someone before it hit the box I imagine πŸ˜€
  18. I think Tales ep 5 had a great take on the concept of Secrets in the theives den. If we had opened it, it's power as a secret would be null and void. I know a lot of people are hoping for tied up loose ends and I absolutely would love some pressing questions answered finally but I do hope that they don't tie a bow on it completely so to speak. I hope to be left with new questions to chat about for the next 30 years too with the occasional new installment along the way bringing this light back into our existence from time to time. What I'm saying is if they actually ended it, and there was never going to be another monkey island... I honestly don't know what I'd do with myself. I don't mean that I have nothing else, I have an amazing wife, 5 awesome kids and other things I'm a fan of as well... There just aren't a whole lot of things that engage me to this level where I want to constantly talk about, create content of and dissect evey little bit of knowledge available. Monkey Island does though and has repeatedly over and over again with every new release and the time in between. I don't believe it ever has to "end" but that it should absolutely always be handled by those with love and respect for the material. This is part of why I've always been proud to be part of a community who spawned so many people that went on to work on these games and others in series we love etc. To me at least it felt like the series was in good hands because you knew what these characters/stories mean to these people. I do however trust in Ron, should he choose to close the box on MI with this tale then so be it, im sure however he would do it will leave us talking about it for years to come either way. He is sorta really good at that πŸ˜‰
  19. On that note they could call it any of monkey island 1/3/4/5/6/7/ect except 2 as that is really the only one that had a number in its title lol
  20. Big Trouble on Monkey Island Guybrush is revealed to be 80's Kurt Russel, It also has Monkey Kombat, everyone else but Guybrush can do it and apperently does constantly. Basically the game happens very quickly around us and we really have no clue what's happening and have very little effect on the story except for one huuuuuuge fluke defeating David Lo-Chuck
  21. God that would be crushing if that happened... just the thought makes me super sad 😞 Truth is life tests everything and friendships are no different so a falling out is not entirely implausible but man I hope not. I love to think of the three MI 1 mains as like the 3 amigos or whatever that went each on their own to do great things in their own chosen venues. To me they have their own archetypes withing storytelling: Tim is "The Artist" (I really dont know if i really have to go too far into detail to explain why i chose that one, we have all played his games, artistic presentation is alway a clear and individual stylistic choice and theme. Tim has always been a huge part of the games as art debate from its inception basically) Ron is "The Mechanic" (We all know Rons love for coding and building new engines and how he tailors them to the stories he wants to tell) I have often struggled with Daves (for a time I seen him incorrectly as the nerd within all of us, then it became the innocent: that optional part of guybrush in MI1 that was just a newbie in awe of the world around him. then I realized everything I think I knew about him was likely totally wrong so I'll leave that interpretation to someone more directly familiar with him or his senabilities) but in the interest of ReMI (fine I'll do it too lol) I think he can be the Muse or even the Comedian as the guy who can probably get Ron to make even a serious moment funny.
  22. Got me too... well played sir, well played indeed πŸ˜€
  23. Incidentally I think the world of BrΓΌtal Legend and the lore they introduced beyond the main story would make a wonderful TCG like magic the gathering
  24. I do think it's fair to say however that Ron likely didn't say these things to specifically galvanize a distase for any Monkey Island that wasn't his work. That was the assumption the not-my-Mokey-Island-ers have taken out the ether and made a mantra on their own accord. It didn't help that a few very popular youtubers in the genre took the stance as well against everything past 2. A well written post or cleverly presented video monologue can have the effect of influencing a large group of people to have the same opinion as you, especially if you have a strong following. Basically I place at least a strong part of the blame for this on (almost) anyone who spouted for the last few or more years that anything after 2 isn't Canon, a voice and sentiment I have only heard getting echoed more often than ever ever since a certain extremely popular adventure genre youtuber made a vid ripping apart COMI as a monkey island game specifically... I mean I get it, i always wanted to hear Rons story, whether or not LeChuck really is Charles L Threepwood or whatever and to know where he was going to take it from there, and I know the feeling is mirrored by many of us here. I think the difference between that and what these others are doing though is for the last few years they have been crapping all over everything other then their holy 2, the hard work that others picked up to continue stories we love. These devs are people that have become friends of our community and even people who come from the community who worked hard to earn the right to help make monkey island for us all. I hope one day to achieve that myself somehow but I know if I do I now will have to deal with this distaste by default from a small but very loud few even though they likely never took the time to give it a chance or came into it with preconceived notions and a crummy attitude. I know in that case, i would have to let places like this be where I check the response to what I'm doing. I hope im not assuming too much saying this myself as im not esactly team or anything but its fair to say mojo was built on love of these games, out of the want to talk about them and to share excitement with every new piece of new/media/etc. Pretty much the whole of my early web experience *was* the scumm bar and the Monkey Island webring, this has always been where I find myself gravitating too and I can't remember the last time I was at a computer and there wasn't at least one Mojo tab open. These are the opinions about the games that I share and why Mojo has been a constant for me for so long (even in the worst times) That being said, I really don't recognize most the names of the loudest detractors claiming to speak for all old true fans... not saying mojo Is the litmus test for our fandom but I honestly don't know how you can be a diehard fan, have access to Google but never come across this place... that's bonkers. I mean I'll allow for lurkers don't get me wrong but these are not quiet people who would just hang back clearly
  25. that's why I've been doing LSD for at least 10 years straight... ... did you guys just see that crab talk? good times πŸ˜€
