I've never worked on anything packaging-related so I wouldn't know if you're wrong or right haha. What you're saying about the boxes wrapped with adhesive paper feels very right though. I don't want to derail the conversation more than it needs to be but the folded look comes from the way that you fold the box. It's much easier to show how it's folded than talk about it haha

Oh yeah I've heard that a lot too, I think the main difference I saw in the Lucasarts Boxes is that they were printed directly on the cardboard and then folded meanwhile most board game boxes I've seen (as well as tutorials on how to make one for prototype board games) are a little different, the cardboard box seems to be made before and then the artwork is glued on the box so the box has this seamless kind of look on the spines. While what I'll be looking to recreate is the look of the real ones where you can see the folds on their spine : I did bother Lasershwert about how to achieve this look and he was nice enough to give me a ton of tips thankfully (or unfortunately lmao, such an annoyance I am!) Funnily enough, I have noticed that some reprints of lucasarts games DO have the more seamless look of game board boxes, the KIXX ones specifically (which I think look horrible, they hide so much of the artwork).I don't know if these two kind of boxes have specific names or which one is more durable, more cost effective, ect. but I'll want to go for the folded look, just to see how far I can make it look like the real deal.

Ooh thank you!! It seems like the Zak McKracken box is actually a different kind of box looking at this. The boxes I'll aim to replicate are made of 2 parts (the lid and the tray) but this one looks like it's just one box, folded up! It gives me a good idea of what the cutting pattern will have to look like if I ever get to making a ZakMcKracken one though! Thank you a lot!!

I'm pretty sure it was never in Ron's plans to bring back the insult swordfighting in sequels. I think the only reason it became a thing is because it was Curse that brought it back and made it the "Monkey Island" combat mechanics, then Escape did it again and unfortunately it stuck. And even then, I think they maybe only brought it back in Curse because it had been a while since Monkey Island 2 and they probably wanted to give a sense of familiarity in a game that had such a drastically different artsyle from the last one... either that or for nostalgia points, who knows.

Oh my gosh, the maze puzzles are always the ones I struggle with the most but I strangely feel like they're maybe supposed to be that way? I was one hundred percent lost in MI2 but I liked how it was done in MI1 and in Tales, the "aha!" moment of knowing where you're going is kind of nice actually. The one thing I'd want if they decide to implement another maze-like puzzle is for it to have a "return to the entrance" button like Tales had, backtracking is never fun, especially when you're lost and you don't know where exactly you're supposed to go to get back to where you started.

Same, although the jokes are enjoyable, once you solved the puzzle in Monkey Island 1, you solved it in every game that uses it.

The pins were actually made to be sold at comic con I think and the jacket wasn't sold anywhere to the public, it was a crew jacket for the people who worked on the cartoon. It would be cool to have these in a Hit the Road rerelease but considering these weren't related to the game, that might be unlikely. The pen would absolutely seem to be possible though since it was promotional material for the game. Although collectors editions are great and I love them, I would love to get just regular merch like shirts and hats, I'd buy anything that has Sam and Max's name on it. I'm sure once Skunkape Games are done with the remasters, there might be a possibility for these kind of things, just gotta be patient, it's only a matter of time. ⌛
