  1. After bull-riding, peeking at the big RtMI spoiler-frizzy thread is one of the most dangerous sports ever. From time to time I want to post something there, but then I have to be extremely careful not to read spoilers or simple revelations in subsequent replies. I have developed a method of quickly scrolling through blocks of text without trying to figure out what they say, leaving it to my mind to spot suspicious keywords and instinctively stop to "read". So far it has worked. Unless I've memorized everything subliminally and I'll play the game with the constant feeling that I've already done it all.
  2. Oh, wow, a new article published on Lucasfilm.com! 😃 https://www.lucasfilm.com/news/the-creators-team-behind-return-to-monkey-island-talk-storytelling-game-design/
  3. The guys at Revolution Software, in a Steam news about their improvements on Broken Sword 2, added this nice shoutout to Ron and the RtMI developers. 🙂
  4. "And with that post by BaronGrackle, the thread turned into an endless list of flaming exchanges about how literally the giant [SPOILER FREE] label should have been taken." From "The Chronicles of Mojo Days" - Low Level - PUB May 2029 - House of Mojo
  5. That's the second shortest hacker career I've ever seen. 😐 If they used a large encryption key, I'm afraid that by the time I finish doing everything, the universe would have met its heat death and I wouldn't even be able to enjoy a cup of coffee while playing.
  6. New interview with Noah Falstein: he confirms his prediction about thesis written in the future for Return to Monkey Island and says that the game is not only entertaining but also quite deep, in some way. 🙂
  7. I had a hunch that it was him, he's very talented. 🙂
  8. So cool! Then you just need to become an hacker so that you can play them before the official release. What happens if the Switch isn't connected to the Internet, when the moment comes? Can you play the game even if no Internet connection is available? 🤔
  9. Great stuff! Unfortunately I read it using my spoiler-safe reading method but I also had a quick look at this thread, discovering a simil-spoiler (that is, something that I didn't want to know). 😕 It's my fault! I shouldn't have peeked! Still, I would like to know who drew the cover image. The simil-grumpygamer style is great! 🙂
  10. Sorry to interrupt! I had this sudden stroke of marketing genius to promote the game! people here in the frum know the developers, they HAVE to suggest this to them!! It's a Disney game and Disney is full of money, right? And they can pretty much buy anything, right?! If they wanted, they could paint the Sleeping Beauty castle over all the F1 cars and bodypaint the statue of liberty like Goofy! No limits! So I was like what could they do to reach new customrs? Something BIG. And then it hit me!!!
  11. It's a beautiful day on Melee Island! The sun is shining and the temperature is a perfect 27 degrees Celsius. There is a gentle breeze blowing from the south-east, bringing with it the fresh smell of the ocean. The humidity is low, making it feel even nicer out. The forecast for tomorrow looks just as good. The only difference is that the wind will be coming from the north-west, so make sure to put your pirate hats on before heading outside. These are perfect conditions for pirates and monkeys alike. Pirates can enjoy a relaxed day on deck, basking in the sun and taking in the scenery while monkeys can swing from tree to tree without having to worry about getting too hot or sweaty.
  12. I can wait! Which is not a typo, but a simple statement about the last 31 years. And I also can't wait! Which is a statement about the last few days.
  13. According to Steam, yes. The only real achievement I want is to find out what the secret of Monkey Island is, but I wouldn't mind additional goals for obsessed completists like me. Like "Read all the books in Phatt's library. Twice."
  14. Watching the developers update mysterious things on Steam in real time is an unhealthy way to feed my "are we there yet?" syndrome. This thing can't come soon enough. 😑
  15. I've always wondered how much you can mix the name "Monkey Island" and pirates before Disney lawyers start pouring gasoline on you while lighting their cigars with $100 bills.
  16. Are you telling me that Return to Monkey Island has been the subject of two April Fools' Days? 😐
  17. I think that the easiest thing to do for the developers would be to assign a description to each item in the scrapbook, something that Guybrush can narrate when clicked/tapped. I don't think that the scrapbook would be comprehensive, though. The goal should be to quickly inform newcomers of events, places or characters that are needed to recreate the context in which RtMI exists. Overwhelming them with information not needed to understand the new game would backfire, in my opinion.
  18. 👕 I beat #Mojole #171 and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 5/6 💛🖤🖤🖤🖤 💚🖤💚🖤🖤 💚💚💚🖤🖤 💚💚💚🖤🖤 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/ How?
  19. Well, the game has a scrapbook of Guybrush's memories as an item in the inventory, so that players can consult it while playing. I wonder why this kind of "reference manual" would be useful during the game.
  20. I used to watch his weather reports and his "today's numbers" daily. I love them. 🙂
  21. That's more of less what Steam says. "More or less" meaning a hour after that. I think that it's a good question, actually. I'm not sure how much the event would distract people from buying and playing the game, but my hunch is that it shouldn't impact the release very much.
  22. Good question and, for me, a quite difficult one. I don't think it's very likely, but I also know nothing about Switch, Switch players or how they are generally inclined to experiment new things. One thing that I've noticed is that the game has been categorized officially as "Casual" on Steam. If the developers have developed the casual mode in the right way, I think that RtMI has a chance to attract people who never played the previous games of the series.
  23. I'm sure I'm missing something here and I don't even understand if Tim is sarcastic or not, in this tweet, but I wonder: why selling stuff to LeChuck/Largo/Voodoo Priest should make the Voodoo Lady a bad person or an antagonist? 🤔 She just sells stuff, including a Love bomb to Wally, completely disregarding which poor person would have been forced to love him.
  24. I would also add that, to me, it doesn't sound that easy to involve a Microsoft-owned company in a Disney project.
