GAME THEORY http://objective.jesussave.us/gametheory.html So just what is Game Theory? Game Theory is the scientific and mathematical study of games. When I say the word "game" you probably think of something like baseball or canasta - meaningless diversions and entertainments that people play. Life itself is a meaningless diversion, since you get to go to heaven(if you are "good") when you die, and 80 years is less than a second compared to eternity..so that point is rather moot. If one participant chooses the self-serving strategy, he will hurt the other who will then act selfishly himself in order to even the score, thereby leading to a world where all follow the Satanist's credo and thus no one wins. If, however, all participants follow the Golden Rule as our Lord tells us to do, all will win. The Lord is teaching us the proper strategy for human interactions, and Game Theory shows that He is correct. He's partially right. Following the Golden Rule(which I whole-heartedly believe in, mind you), both sides end up getting one year, as opposed to 3 years for testifying against each other. However, that hardly proves or supports anything about Christianity, it merely proves that being a good simaritan and caring for your fellow man(which inheriently isnt a part of any religion) is beneficial to both sides. Besides, any point he made for Christianity is lost in the next quote. Another way we can see the rational Truth in Christianity is by considering how many of the things that the Lord teaches against are actually zero-sum games where one gains at the expense of another. For instance, all gambling games - which the Lord considers to be a form of the sin of covetousness - are zero-sum games. Homosexuality is a zero-sum game as well since one man plus another man equals zero children. I dont quite see the problem in gambling. Sure it's a zero-sum game, but it's better than the person in question stealing for money(or playing another zero-sum game, like sports). Homosexuality, however, CAN be a + sum game. Aparently the act of "adoption" is lost on the preacher. +1 child is gained from the homosexuals adopting him, which would be a half child(due to poor education and love) in the orphanage. Aparently we should also exile any unfertile men or women, since they also are zero sum. Or heck, why dont we just exile every menopause woman, or every man that lost the ability to produce sperm? We can now address the Atheist and say: "The payoff matrix doesn't lie, dear Atheist. It is in your best interest to believe in the Lord. If you will not accept the evidence of His existence before your eyes, then consider the infinitely unloseable strategy of the Believer that the science of Game Theory has shown you. You just can't go wrong by believing!" Once the Atheist accepts the winning strategy of Belief, he will then be open to standard forms of apologetics and will be able to finally see the proof of the Lord that is all around us. The preacher, I guess, thinks that there is no good will in man, since obviously we couldnt think of being nice to each other without the help of an external source. Heck, we just need to look at Buddhists to see that the golden rule and other good simartin laws were created without christianity. CREATION ARTICLES, I.E. I think this one quote will suffice as enough to show the rediculous statements(more like opinions) within the article. Even God himself is turned into a villain; at one point in the episode they had the audacity to blame Him for killing Darwin's daughter Through inaction, God killed Darwin's daughter. Hell, for letting bacteria/sickness run rampant through the Earth is rather villianous, terrorists that unleash deadly chemicals into the air would be considered vilians, I dont see why we cant classify God for doing the same. You know, because organs and creatures evolve like skyscrapers. Its the same thing. Yup... right.... If this man actually believes any of this crap, then he simply loses all credibility. I would not be bothered if he based any of his arguments on accurate descriptions and understanding of evolution. But he doesn't appear to know the first thing about the theory. How, then, if he knows nothing about it, can he go off on his rants about how it's wrong? I got a kick out of his little paragraph on Macs. I'd like for him to show some proof, some real proof, that Apple is a tool of the devil. I mean, aside from the OS being codenamed Darwin and the Apple logo being (surprise!) an apple. I guess he's never heard of McIntosh apples. And now the "open source" liscence is communism? Wow, a new low... Consider the name of the company and its logo: an apple with a bite taken out of it. This is clearly a reference to the Fall, when Adam and Eve were tempted with an apple3 by the serpent. It is now Apple Computers offering us temptation, thereby aligning themselves with the forces of darkness Look, aside from the fact that I have never found myself tempted by apple, I dont see how this is "clearly a reference to the fall." What, any image of an apple with a bite taken out of it is sacrilegous? Quick, nobody eat apples, you might go to hell! Still, Macintosh might be the tool of the devil. What about the men that marry the women who are unable to bare children, does this make them sinners too? If so, you are even more a fool than I ever thought could exist. FunClown Posted November 7, 2003 Share Posted November 7, 2003 As a Christian, I find these types of sites distasteful and disrespectful to what they claim to be preaching. I think they themselves do it because they feel they have a lot to gain (both monetary and power wise). Monetary wise by the donations they receive and from their "gift shop", and power wise because their motto is to control other people. However, it is a double edge sword, since by getting people to "donate" and buy gifts from their shop they see this as God blessing them for the "good" work that they do. Secondly, there is that note that speaks about "foreign agents". Basically, if you are a foreigner to the US, you may be considered bad. It doesn't seem to occur to them that their technical difficulties may be due to Americans. I think this is because they are marketing their site mainly to Americans and so want other Americans to see them as good, honest and patriotic at my and other non-Americans expense. That important site news message is actually pretty funny how they think there is a big thing with governments and anti-american agents stopping people from accessing their site. It shows how they think the world revolves around them and how anything that doesn't revolve with them is evil...unless of course you buy something from their gift shop. The game theory zero-sum is a load of crock, they are living proof Plus, when did anti-american become interchangeable with anti-christian? I don't think there should be a "creation" science fair any more than there should be a "evolution" science fair. Evolution is fact, in the context of Micro-Evolution. The sad thing is, that any event is history that is not repeatable and observable is not scientific. So evolution as origin is not scientific, Creation is also not scientific. This is really annoying, because most of the Christians I know aren't this ignorant, and its bothersome having so much Christianity bashing here because I feel almost obligated to defend it, or rather defend whatever part of it may be somewhat valid. This is sad, "Wouldn't you rather have just one God who loves you a bunch than a bunch of gods that don't love you at all?" I don't care what you "rather have." I rather have 1+1=511, but it's not true. What is sad is when a child reads something like this, then attempts to defend himself saying something along those lines, and then get someone scoffing at their ignorance. So are you suggesting that Anthropology and Archaeology are not sciences? Are you suggesting that the methodology used to uncover the archaeological record is not scientific? Are you also suggesting that the hypotheses that PaleoAnthropologists have suggested then supported by observation of the archaeological record are unscientific? I mean positivistic. Positivism is a view which holds that all statements other than those discribing observations are meaningless for science, right? In addition to answering Skin's questions consider this. Explanantions in science (theories) are inevitably at least partly consist of things we can not observe directly: past, future, atoms, forces, laws etc. And observation and prediction were never goals of science. It's just like mixing means with ends, because ends of science are explanations of the world and means are predictions, observations, experiments, criticism.
