Say goodnight, Counterstrike!

Hell with Counterstrike, Call of Duty is where it's at. Bug free servers, populated with individuals that just want to have fun. Call of Duty takes it' realism to the weapons themselves, they jam, run out of amo, no gimmicks. And when your gun jams, either switch to another, or run like hell!:p

That's so true. Call of Duty is one of the best shooters ever. :D

My god, I knew one of these fanboi threads would pop out sooner or later.

"No, Counter-Strike is better!" "BF1492 pwns CS" "Call of Duty rapes your mom!"

Shut up, the whole lot of you... It's time for an old timer to dole out some advice and words of wisdom for a change rather than take the blowtorch to the lot of you.

I abhor polls like these in the same way that I dislike nationalism: basically all you do is hop on a log with your bedbuddies and beat your chest, seeing whoever can do it the loudest. Not once do people look into the pros and cons of each game. Instead, all they do is say, "Hey, this game is cool, all these suck, lets jump on the bandwagon!"

I've played Counter-Strike since beta 4. I've seen the best decisions in the game come to fruition, as well as the worst implemented (tactical shield, anyone?). I've survived a head to head tango with myg0t (actually, they stalked us on the Counter-Strike Radio boards), played with some of the greatest players I will ever know, and took part in the organizations. I've seen everything Counter-Strike has to offer, and I've been a part of the things that have served as precedent to what is now occuring in games today.

Can you say you have done the same?

What about BF1492 or Call of Duty? I have yet to pick them up, because 1.) I'm a broke ass college student, and 2.) I don't have the time I used to have in order to sit down and invest in becoming godlike in a game. Sure, I have "the gold touch" when it comes to picking up a new game, but the more I learn about a game while playing it, the better I can judge it later.

First impressions mean jack ****. I have learned that from the MMO community. That's perhaps the only thing they can teach you, other than how to be an idiot and invest multiple hours into a time sink with no plausible reward. Take Star Wars Galaxies and Horizons; need I say more?

To those who have said "I've only played it for a few hours, then uninstalled it," that tells me that either you did not understand the greater scheme of things, or you got your ass handed to you by an CPL/CAL-i clan and the process was so dramatic that you blew a few neurons and decided it (the game) was a piece of ****.

And you wonder why America is not a true democracy. I'd be scared ****less.

One last piece of advice: Fileplanet sucks my left nut.

If there is a write in option, The Specialists is getting my vote (http://www.specialistsmod.org).

EDIT: And if I may interject, Natural Selection does not deserve the votes it is getting. Flayra is getting votes from the clan scene, in exchange for hanging off their wang, so to speak. If you want to see a game where pubs get screwed in the ass with no lube, play Natural Selection. Viva le Voogru.com!

Here's a guy that's bitching about people not weighing the pros and cons of the three games mentioned (CS, CoD, BF1942) and he's only played one of them? Odd. I have played all three. It's got nothing to do with logs, pounding chests, or "bedbuddies". It's a simple matter of preference. Damn, the CS people are sensitive.

Oh, and I fail to see the connection between America being a democracy and playing CS a few hours and uninstalling it.

Ok...lemme explain. Counter Strike is a mod. The other two are proper full games. Maybe when Valve re-release (yes, re-release) CS:CZ, I'll understand. Face it, CS is not as amazing as it used to feel. And did you say fanboi? :o

You dislike nationalism now? Ok, I'll look into the pro's and cons of each game. Ignoring the bit about bedbuddies.

- BF1942 is a great game. Sure, it's single player mod sucks like hell, the bots just end up running into walls. But most people buy the game to play it multiplayer. I think. It has the ability to put 64 players on one huge battlefield at the same time. It's like being one of the soldiers in a strategy game. You can fly planes, drive tanks, jeeps, battleships, subs, you name it, its in the game. :p BF1942 is addictive as hell once you get the hang of it. Also, with every patch comes a new map, new weapons, new army uniforms, new vehicles. That's why its good.

Now for the bad parts, BF is open to the occaisional bug and error, but most of the time you can get a solid game in. The shooting isn't brilliant, and the sniper rifles really piss me off. But the main purpose of BF is the vehicles. Flying planes is near impossible if you don't have a joystick.

That's BF, and I really can't be bothered to go over two other games. But I will say this about CS:

It's a mod. Its FREE!Plus, the communtiy can make contributions and share ideas with the developers.

I've played Counter-Strike since beta 4. I've seen the best decisions in the game come to fruition, as well as the worst implemented (tactical shield, anyone?).

Ahh man I hate that tactical shield.

I've seen everything Counter-Strike has to offer, and I've been a part of the things that have served as precedent to what is now occuring in games today.

Err...yeah. But then, BF has already had an effect on games. (Look at the newly announced Star Wars: Battlefront). CoD hasn't done much yet but that's mainly because the original path was set by MOH:AA.

Sure, I have "the gold touch" when it comes to picking up a new game, but the more I learn about a game while playing it, the better I can judge it later.

Not always, I've been playing BF for over a year now, and my opinion on the game hasn't changed since I first installed it. (It's amazing).

What about if you played it for a month on steam before going back to BF?

I didn't get my ass handed to me, I went and played other games that have taken the idea of CS and built on it. What I'm saying is that CS is out of date.

It's expired.

Whew, glad thats over.

P.S. LOTR: Return of the King is amazing!

Well as for #...........

csports.net

Good ****ing god

CS is pretty good, sure it's the only game where I get my butt kicked. (Rushing IS NOT smart, especially the elephant gun, or AWP), but watching CAL-i clan demos, that's not too surprising......

My personal fav of BF1942 is Forgotten Hope.

Although I still prefer either Wolfensteins.:p
