Force jump - totally useless?

It depends on how far away you are when you attack (and the level jump you have I think)... if you are too far away you will run, and if you are too close you will run.

Also I am pretty sure that you only force jump when using regular attacks, if you attempt to open the fight with a special attack (Flurry, Power, Crit) then you always run to your target.

If you are somewhat far away from your target then you can hit normal attack, then disengage (F, I think?) to move up, eventually you will get into jump range and jump rather than run.

Force jump will only work when you using your default attack. Not flurry, power attack, or any of those things. And it can be very usefull, because you can instatly close the distance to an enemy. Against the blaster-wielding ones, this is great.

thanks i tried to post that ealier but couldn't reply to anything.

the distance remains the same, you have to be at least ten meters away period. so the farther away the better. you gain extra attack damage as the feat progresses.

and it will not work unless you use your default attack.

Force jump is the ****.

Activate Knight speed or greater, have 2 blades, and do a regular attack as a Guardian, and pretty much what you targetted is gonna be dropped first round.

I've found it doesn't work to well in caves and other close-in areas... probably since you need LOS to the target, and be farther than 10 meters... if there isn't LOS, the character AI will have them run to the target.

It's annoying, when you tell a blaster character to target something slightly around the corner... since they can't directly see it, they will run all the way to it... essentially making their ranged weapon worthless. I've noticed this happening with doors, I'll target some things right after opening the door (even before the door is fully opened), and since the door wasn't completely "open" the AI probably still thought it would block view... so they run into the room like the other LOS things.

it also depends on the height of the ceiling... force jump will not work in caves and small corridors etc etc...

and force jump rules... when i chose to raid the sith landing bay on manaan I had force jump lvl 3 so I ran in (alone) and force jump murdered every target... i had the entire hall wiped out in a matter of seconds

I hate when they do that.

But hey, its only an NPC, and they tend suck in general....

I'd never actually seen it before until we were on dantooine.

Myself juahini and t4-m3whatever droid, were strolling through the plains of lovely grass and then all of a sudden there is the flash of lightsabre and I see juahini "FLY!!" to the foul four legged beast in under a second

I want it on my next character! :D

Jump is a great power for the Guardian. I would tend to set up master speed, then a default attack (to activate jump) then a couple of master flurries and anything close would be dead ...

Once ...

on Kashyyk I jumped into one of those hanging triangle beams on the great walkway ... that was funny as I ended up in the midst of a pack taking a quick 40 or so HP before regaining my composure and killing everything in sight.

I couldn't always get it to hit, but most times it worked and when it did it was a deadly move.

I didn't miss it at all when I first played through as a Scoundrel/Consular nor now as a Soldier/Consular (Dark Side). That is one of the wonderful things about this game - it is very easy to get it to play very differently by just being open to your character and party.
