Alien426 Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 OMFG! Turn off the computer right now!!!111 It makes me wonder: Australia should be the perfect country for alternative energy sources. Lots of sunny days and free flat areas for photovoltaic panels, the big cities are all near the coast and could use wind and tidal power...
Jabbas WhOr3 Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 I live in Brisbane man and if they told me no-air con, i'd tell them to bend over and stick it where the sun dont shine. You should start a riot!

Lots of sunny days and free flat areas for photovoltaic panels, the big cities are all near the coast and could use wind and tidal power... Annoyingly, local governments don't think that way. Look at Las Vegas, get's most of it's power from the Great hoover Damn, but still needs the polluting power plants to fully power the place (despite most of the bright lights and stuff being quite energy efficient, there's just a whole lot of them.) weird think is, it's mainly sunny in Vegas, so obviously, solar power would be a good option, right, this would cause less reliance on the power plants and therefore less pollution? So why the hell don't they do it? Anyway, off topic a bit there. But yeah, that sucks. i mean, in the middle of a heatwave, of course you're expected to use more electtricity. So wouldn't it be better to stop using something else instead of air conditioners, something that's more of a luxery than a nessecity? meh, governments!
Doubleplus GC Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Actually, anyone in the USA is entitled to install solar panels on their house if they want to. In fact, if you draw in more power than you need, the state is legal bound to buy the excess energy from you. So provided it's sunny enough to break even, it'll pay for itself eventually. You really oughtta read more.

Doubleplus GC Posted December 2, 2004 Posted December 2, 2004 So, yeah, I'm reading extensively. Historically, even.
chrisakachris Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 I am also reaching back into history in order to improve my knowledge of important events. In honor of the Episode III trailer, my dad and I are gonna watch the original Trilogy again.
Doubleplus GC Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I have yet to see it. A friend says that it makes the movie look awesome, which is quite a feat since he knows full-well how bad it is going to be.
chrisakachris Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I realized I don't care how bad the movie may be, be it as it may.
Ray Jones Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 I think they should like ban all those creeping christmas lights to save energie for those hair-conditioners in the summer. Yeah. BAN Tree murdering and christmas light installations, i say!!
Joshi Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 we have a reusable fake tree and no lights, energy conservation all over for us (despite the fact that i'm typing this on my parents desktop and watching back to the furture part 3 on my laptop at the same time )
Alien426 Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 Oh, the decadence! You're watching a DVD on a lappy?
chrisakachris Posted December 25, 2004 Posted December 25, 2004 No way I'm going to watch all those Strong Bad cartoons.
