Death king
Quikan jin could have died him in the beginning of the final battle. When darth maul fell he could have stabed him
Sivy
patience my young padawan, its only been a few minutes. you can't expect instantaneous replies. Qui-gon jinn could have killed him in the beginning of the final battle. When darth maul fell, he could have stabbed him maybe, but then it was qui-gon's fate to die and make obi-wan take anakin as his apprentice. if qui-gon didn't die then maybe anakin wouldn't become vader and kill the emperor, thus fulfilling the prophesy by bringing balance to the force
dark jedi 8
^ what he said. besides a jedi tries to be nonviolent at all times so just jumping down and stabbing maul might be considered going against their "code" of honor.
JediFanatic10
I dont know why Maul died in the first place... he was a bad ass man!
DarksideDjembe
Nah, im sure they trained in dueling anyway. Its an important jedi tradition, not only that other people have melee weapons you gotta be prepared for.

"Kick em while they're down" is probably not a tenet of the jedi order. He should have though:)

Wraith 8
some jedi were banned from the jedi order for their believes. not killed or punished.. just banned. if you read courtship of princes leia, yu can read all about the banned Jedi that went to Dathomir. dark jedi 8
i thought the jedi were against killing or for that matter punishing (to a lesser dagree) those in their ranks. little lone anyone else, its against their views to kill, even a sith. they believe evil can be changed and that everyone deserves a another chance. Wraith 8
uhm yeah i know... but uhmm did they give the emperor a 2nd chance? or maul? ofcourse not... sometimes you have to act... enough is enough.
dark jedi 8
the jedi order and its rules were nonexistent when it came to the death of the emperor. plus maul had already killed a jedi and if obi didn't do that then he was as good as dead. so i guess their are some exceptions, although very few and far between. Not only unlikely...but impractical for the standard person to be carrying anykind of melee weapons that would be comparable in size to a lightsaber. Swords and staffs would be very ineffective against blasters, and especially lightsabers, as they'll just cut right through em

Darth MarcII
The explanation for Obi-Wan being able to kill Maul was the he reached into the dark side slightly, to overcome Darth Maul. I liked Maul too. Too bad he could not have been the enduring Sith in the prequels.

Hmm...code of honor, living, code of honor, living...tough choice man, tough choice. But we all know Qui-Gon decided correctly in the end, right? Of course, cause he knew the mathematical formula! + = Dead:mauls:
