However, it IS true that at the Win 98 launch the first thing that happened was a system crash. Darth Homer
here's a quote I find funny, forget who first said it: "Windows is a 32-bit extension of a 16-bit shell for an 8-bit program written for a 4-bit computer by a 2-bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition." Also, "How many MS employees would it tak to change a lightbulb? None, they would just define DARKNESS as the new industry standard."

LOL But seriously, ME is awful. If you had a good experience with it, you're in a small minority indeed. I heard they were preparing a great new operating system for the millennium (XP ) but didn't have it ready. In a hurry they bundled together a load of stuff and called it a...sieve. I mean, uh, Operating System. It's main problem for me was that it ate memory......like there was no tomorrow. XP is great compared to ME. I have majorly tweaked it, removed stuff, disabled stuff and changed stuff. It pretty much feels the way I want it to, looks the way I want it to and most of the time behaves the way I want it to. I'm not a control freak, really I'm not But once you've dealt with XP, check out a load of tools so that you control your computer and not Microsoft ("User Friendly" in the MS dictionary means "hiding the stuff we think people don't need to see). and for all windows systems you should check out http://www.annoyances.org as a starting point. And of course, uninstal that evil Windows Messenger service...

I've always been of the opinion that, if my some miracle, you get a version of windows working in a stabel fashion you leave it well alone! So if your win98se setup is working ok and stable and you have no specific software that needs XP then you might as well wait until it starts playing up... then upgrade. YOu will end up having to spend a lot to upgrade your pc once you do upgrae windows though
Sabretooth
I've decided to stick with Win98SE instead. It's the best OS Microsoft could come up with. Anyways, will Linux have any Compatibility, game etc. issues?
