cprompt69
Just read that Battlefield-2 will support up to 100 players with squad controls for team management. Any hope SWBF will offer anything comparable? Off topic issue, but I hope SWBF will (one day) evolve into its own MMOFPS (with a bit of RPG), albeit with the pay-for-content model vs the monthly fee. SWBF already offers so much of what us early beta testers of SWG wanted to see.

Alegis
How can something like swbf be offtopic and BF2 be 'on topic' in the battlefront forum... Make SWBF an MMORPG? You're crazy. And no, SWBF-> MAX 32 players. Who knows what mods will bring us
cprompt69
Let me restate, because I agree that SWBF does not need to migrate to a MMORPG and when I said MMOFPS, I should have clarified. I'm thinking more along the lines of a larger campaign model (which I know exists already is SWBF) that can be scaled up to 100's of players (hopefully in the thousands). Maybe the game would take a week for those with the time/dicipline to play it, but I'd love the chance. BF2 (aka Battlefield 2) has announced servers that will support 100 players. I'd love to see this with SWBF.

Sounds Risky
Not only will Battlefield 2 support 100+ players, it's also supposed to have destructable buildings and such. Oh and good visuals as well. Come on Battlefront, you actually look fun but why not be cool like Battlefield 2?

You can't sue a company for actually putting a plan to work because you might have posted some obsure details to something similiar on some random message board... Sure BF2 will not allow server capacity to exceed 100 people. Doesn't mean that you'll actually be able to find internet games able to support it, especially if they haven't made major improvements to their atrocious net code that is used in BF:42 and BF:V. I'd even be suprised if a lan could provide a playable 100 man experience.
eastcoast2895
although that does sound like a great idea to have 100 players in a game. i always believe that good maps made for a certain number of players can be better than a large amount of players in an average designed map is better. also if the game does support up to 100 players, i wonder how fun the game can be with around 50 - 60 players. for battlefront though, with the maps shown it looks like a large amount of players per map is needed to create a fun game. StormHammer
Considering you can go up to 64 players on a PC LAN, I'd say that's plenty for SWBF, especially with vehicles flying around all over the place. I've played on Enemy Territory servers with that many people on, and it can get pretty hectic. Lag can become a serious issue unless they are low ping servers - even then, it can be an issue. Anyway, making SWBF into an MMOFPS would be a bad idea IMHO. I'm not a fan of pay to play games with monthly fees.
