BUT LF and altavista and other pages come up just fine. :-\ My dad has his computer upstairs. we're connected to a router which in turn is connected to the modem. now here's where it get's even trippier......my dad's computer can't even load up google.com, hotmail.com or my website. it's like our isp is blocking certain pages?

goto tools -> internet options -> sercurity -> restricted sites and make sure they haven't found they way in there.

i doubt your IP address has anything to do with it but you can found out by renewing it...

start -> run -> type in 'CMD' -> ipconfig /release -> ipconfig /renew

We you still need to run ad ware or spybot. For your router, um you need to get your manual out and look for the routers IP address. It might also be on your PC. The you can go through IE to connect to your router. This is the easiest way. The other two ways are hyper terminal and going through DOS and using Telnet. While studing for my Cisco Certification I used mostly the hyper terminal. But you do need to look over your manual. If you need anything else just ask.
