EXP Packs

Actually I hate Star Trek...but I do not believe they fight things from other Galaxies. :p A foe from another GALAXY was unique. They've always been from another part of the our Galaxy, or Star War's Galaxy, in this case. This goes for all Sci-fi. A enemy from another Galaxy is unique.

The NJO would make a crappy game series, because its just...eh, not game stuff. And it hardly is on the level of the Thrawn Trilogy, or anything like that. But I like it alright because it makes Star Wars darker, and it didn't have such a happy optimistic ending.

Yeah, its nowhere near as good as some of the other EU books out there. But I wouldn't hate it so much to deny it the title Star Wars. Its just differant, and some like that.

Its the Episode I/II of the Expanded Universe. :p

If there's an expansion pack to be released, I think it should feature even more maps and new classes.

Who doesn't want to be a badass Mandalorian with a Jetpack and all their other effective gadgets? One map could feature Jedis vs Mandalorians, though as I know it, Mandalorians died out totally a while after KOTOR, but you get my point; badass soldiers with Mandalorian armor.

Now, to introduce a Jedi vs Sith map... I'm not a Jedi fanboy, I do not want Jedis spammed everywhere, but a map for it would surely be good.

I don't think the game will improve by adding Y-wings, B-wings and TIE-interceptors. Those vehicles (I'll take them as an example) will be very much like other ones already in the game.

The said it in an article: that piloting a vehicle will be more or less straightforward (much easier then in bf1942). New vehicles won't make a difference.

I they want to improve the game, they should be thinking about making the maps we already have more detailed or bigger. Give the classes nicer waepons. Improving gameply (like making vehicles drive more realistic). You could base an expansion on the expanded universe, but this won't be as nice as the real game because the whole feeling of "I'm fighting the battle from the movies" is gone (hopefully you understand what I mean).

I think the only thing that I would like is a battlefront 2 with basicly the same as the first version, but with better graphics and other stuff I mentioned before. Just to make the game up to date.

I can't speak for others, but for me:

- The whole biotechnology thing has been done to death in science fiction over the past while. If they want a new set of villians, fine, but do they have to be so cliche?

- Personally, I don't like the "alien invaders from another galaxy" idea. The SW galaxy is a huge place, and with the Unknown Regions there was plenty of opportunity for threats from inside the galaxy.

- Such a radical departure from more traditional SW stories was unnecessary IMO. Again, the SW galaxy is a huge place, and there are so many potential stories in the more familiar vein. Not every threat needs to be galaxy-threatening.

- Many poor and inconsistent characterizations. Mara, Luke, and so on were very different between books and from the movies in some cases. This is part of the problem of having so many writers.

- Too many books. Some didn't advance the plot very much. The series could have been shortened by a lot.

- Altering or attempting to alter movie canon. The whole Force/lightside/darkside arguments tried to change what was described in the movies. Why did they feel the need to do this? SW is more fantasy/myth than scifi. Magic doesn't need to be explained, it just is. So why does the Force?

- Trying to outdo the movies. They made the Vong out to be a threat so much bigger than the Empire, and had them cause way more destruction. Could they not write interesting stories without making everything over the top?

- Finally for me personally, it was just too much of a deviation from what I love in the movies. Turning Coruscant into a "jungle world" by biotech aliens from another galaxy who fly living ships that shoot lava at you just doesn't fit the bill. And this is why it will never work as a game. It is just too unfamiliar to a large percentage (majority?) of SW fans. KOTOR is a great example of creating an interesting story using the traditional SW elements to make something that fits into the overall myth.

That's just my take. :)

I can see why you would think that. But it gets boring if you've read all the SW books when all they ever do is fight the Empire. it gets boring when the Empire comes up with this new thing and you know the Republic is going to win with no one dying. NJO changed that drastically, which I am grateful. The Vong reminded me of the terrorists, calling us infidels and all. oh, speaking of whcih, ther eis this great t-shirt online that says 'American Infidel' on the front of the shirt, its awesome.

No, I agree with Prime. You can't just make up something new (like in other games). Only if George lucas himself says this is how the story continues, I will agree
