Welll, before we thought of new models, we were just going to retexture the old planets. But we should be able to get new areas ingame soon. Thats how, just make some new map models and then get them ingame. If Element X doesnt get back online then I sure hope cchargin can pull off a full model importer/exporter

Question to anyone, not just the AE members;

I was wondering whether it's even possible to do something such as use all existing worlds/environments, but just mod the story/characters.

For instance, instead of making new planets (as the AE is planning), is it even possible from a code standpoint, to use the existing planets, but spawn certain enemies in different places. In other words, use the same stuff, but completely change the story.

I don't know if that even made sense. I know what I'm trying to explain in my head, I just can't put it into the proper words for some reason.

Yes, this is very doable and not complicated. Apart new textures, you'll need KT, a gff editor, notepad and dlgedit. Reference this thread for new area creation: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122867

LOL I didn't mean that *I* would want to do this. I haven't the first clue about modding. Heck, I have enough trouble INSTALLING other people's mods in my own game :p

I was just curious if it was actually possible, and wondered why no modders have attempted this, since it'd be like an entirely different story (provided you could live with the fact the worlds look exactly the same).

Indeed, understanding that this board was moderated, and not wishing to thrown out on my duff :), all I was trying to do was ask some serious questions about the likelihood of this mod, given the apparently far reaching claims about it, and the equally far reaching difficulty involved in fulfilling those same claims. I never called any names nor attacked anyone. I merely asked the "difficult" questions, none of which have to date been answered :)

Well then a mod that follows Revan and Malak as they first find the Star Forge would be cool. Since its all the same planets.

Well, the Galaxy Forge mod was the first project which involved that sort of mod. New storyline but same areas. Then it evolved into KOTOR AE where the models would be the same just with new textures. Now we are making entirely new models.

Are you still doing the Galaxy Forge or have you 'Scraped' it?

<sigh> I said it before and Ill say it again. KOTOR AE IS the Galaxy forge mod. It just has more content than the original, more changes, and an entirely new game. KOTOR 1.5 is the Galaxy Forge mod. The only thing I have scraped for now and might come back to is that Endar Spire and Stealing the Lev Mod. And in KOTOR AE you do steal a sith battle cruiser similar to the Lev just to have most of the things from the Galaxy Forge mod in there.

And your evidence is?

No offense taken - I'm not here to make friends :)

But if you are so sure they can do this, then answer the question I posted - how can a bunch of amateurs make a bigger mod in less time than KOTOR2, when they don't have the source code or game development tools, and probably have a smaller team, working part time, compared with a larger fulltime team at Obsidian that has the support of LucasArts and Bioware?

Answer that question and you'll have credibility. If you can't, then how can I take you - or them - seriously? I hope this isn't too in your face either :)

You will have proof of our conviction once the mod is done silly unfaithful.

Nice retextures Chemix, though I can't say the same for poor Bastila's hair ;)

I thought Bastila was the best out of the lot, the look of her hair and clothes, stunning, absolutly stunning. but for now i'll stick with Svosh's Good / Evil Bastila mod :)

I like the Bastilla. Though I do use Svosh's right now if I were any better at skinning I'd probably have that or a similar hair color myself. So I'll stick with what I have and wait for this mod and skins to come out.

I hate to ask more from Holowan, But we need modelers......very badly. There are alot of new models to be made and Chemix is the only decent modeler right now. So please help us! http://www.elementx.org/Forum

BTW, it took me a week towrite, but I have finally completed the final schedule and tutorials. In other words. You should be seeing more work done and more screenshots of things other than reskins soon. Probably starting with new dialogues, new simple models, and new items(new items, how exciting!;).)

Sorry, but they arent that kind of tutorial. Its just atutorial on how to name certain things like voice acted .wav files, .dlgs and model files so that everything falls into place correctly when all is said anddone. Its an organization thing. Though I have started a few tutorials on scripting and module editing. I am making them for my team but I would be happy to release them here too. I keep thinking that Darth333 already wrote a tutorial but Ill pitch in my 2 cents anyways. Though I don't know why a module editing tutorial would be useful with Fred Tetra's module editor coming out. My scripts tutorial so far is just what script does what. Certain actions with the codes to them I mean.

A few questions for you all:

1.) Would it be worth it to model a curved lightsaber?

2.) You will get a sith battlecruiser early ingame so is it worth it to change the ebon hawk to a better ship?

3.) This is the basic concept of the fps elements if you havent already heard it: You go into combat and have your usual 3 options(RPG style) But there is also afourth option you can choose while in combat. This changes the rounds to FPS mode at which you control your charcter instead of just watching him/her/it fight. Would that be a cool option to have? Or should we just keep it KOTOR plain and simple RPG style combat?

4.) Should we add a jump button?

5.) Should the GUI's be different from what they are now?

6.) Is 9 planets, 2 stations and 3 ships just too much? (Dantooine, Coruscant, Kashyyyk, Mannan, Unknown World, Yavin IV, Hoth, Sleyheron, Ancient Kamino, Korriban, Ebon Hawk, Revans Ship, Sith Battlecruiser, Galaxy Forge, Dark Forge.)

7.) Any name suggestions for the sith battlecruiser or should it just be the actual Leviathan?

8.) Is Querel-Kraal-Krean a jedi enough sounding name?

9.) Was the name Kerc Tanizien already used in some other Star Wars thing?

Note: Kamino and Sleyheron are last minute add ons to the storyline and will be used for sidequests mainly.

I understand that. We don't really know how far we will get with the resourses we have. To be honest, we probably can't beat Obsidian so all we are doing is giving this a shot and hoping certain thingswill turn out alright. We don't expect to do anything, just hope to.

As for unrealistic goals, I'm sure they sound impossible, but its something new and something worth trying. Just keep in mind that we ARE not pros and this is all for fun. There are no expectations just goals we hope to reach.

As for likeihood of the mod:

I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. It will either get finishedor not finished yet it looks like it willget finished now. Im sure that most of those unrealisticgoals wont be included because of a lack of our programmer. But the mod will get done.

I think that answers your questions. Sorry it took so long to answer it because I never really read them till now. ;)
