Wraith 8
hey peeps i heard about JTL a bit more.. and uhmmm something bothered me a bit. the fact that TIE fighters get shields. now i know they are trying to create the balance needed and i understand they are trying to not make the same mistakes as on the planets. but uhmmm thats not right.... the TIE bomber, TIE fighter and the TIE Interceptor have never had shieds. sure some of them had a hyperdrive.. those were usually owned by high ranking officers.... but those were slower then the normal TIE's. the only TIE's that had shields & hyperdrive were the TIE advanced and the.... god.... uhmmm i think Corran Horn named it: Trip because of the 3 solar wings. thos have shields and hyperdrives. if they really want to balance that aswell they need to give rebels on the ground an AT ST aswell. at least thats how i see it what do you guys think? lil_dude
they should have some kind of armor, like Light Plating or something, but no shields, every ship should get a hyperdrive, even though it's not really realistic, it would be a huge disadvantage
Sounds Risky
The Imperials should have known what they were getting when they joined up. No shields, no hyperdrive.
Jan Gaarni
It is possible to add light shields and a modest hyperdrive on the TIE Fighter and Interceptor, but they would look like this and this. The TIE Bomber could lose some of it's bomber bay in order to incorporate the extra hardware. And the TIE you are thinking of, Wraith, is called TIE Defender, the best star fighter there is in the Imperial Starfleet. Unfortunatly they realised that much too late. Trahern Valley
Giving all ships the same stuff should be a great big no-no. This illustrates the way the devs work in general, I fear. If they want balance, make the TIEs faster and more manouverable than the snub fighters weighed down with all that extra hardware. TIEs should be a damn sight cheaper to build anyway. I'm not the biggest fan of twitch-based death because I suck against the hyper-accurate people, but I still don't want the PTB downright contradicting how this stuff is accepted to work. I imagine they're just trying to make it so that space doesn't fill up with advanced TIEs, but they should go about it differently. Personally, I think the best ship in each faction should be damn hard to get. High faction rank required, tough quests to eventually get a one-shot schematic, and so on. I could see a bomber having its heavy weapons hardware replaced with shields and/or hyperdrive...but then I'd rather just have a llambda(?) shuttle. Wraith 8
thanx jan. i agree with most of you. i say let the hyperdrive and shielded ones only be available by colonels or something. but since the devs have made huge mistakes with ballancing the normal combat profs they are not gonna make the "mistake" again. altho it will be a mistake thanx for your insights on this Wraith
