Great news!! Hatrus, the sweet modeller that has been said to be better than Duncan_10158...is going to QVW Map, and export my models as a .3ds file for me. He will receive a lot of credit, as I am finally thankful to get help (I have been waiting far too long, six months, or around that number). TFighterPilot has said he will help me and turn it into a vehicle file for the game and add bones...(could you add tags as well, mine didn't work, I don't get 'em). TFighterPilot will also receive a lot of credit as well!!

I'm glad to have such awesome modellers help me!!

Just wanted to keep you guys posted.

Thanx for supporting me.

Look, I don't mean to be a bubble-burster here or anything, but it needs a ton of work before it will start to look good. Right now it looks like you just slapped some primitives together, i.e. not very good. With that said, I'll point out some things that I've noticed in addition.

1. The little spheres on the surface. The reference picture shows thorn-like objects protruding, but they aren't all spherical. In other words, you simply have to put more time and work into that.

2. Matt-Liell is right. The stuff on the front is way too symmetrical, doesn't fit with your reference at all. It's also too high-poly, and needs more detail. Again, this is just a question of how much time and effort you want to put into it.

3. The cockpit isn't there. Yet again, this is an effort/time thing. I don't have time to read the whole thread, so if you're planning to add it already then I apologize. On such a simple ship, something like a cockpit simply has to be there.

4. The reference picture shows the ship as a unified blob, with no corners or seams anywhere. Yours, on the other hand, is a bunch of squished spheres stuck together. If you can merge them, and blend all the shapes together, you can start to create the look of the original. Unlike the others, this is really an experience thing, so I can see why you haven't gotten to that yet.

5. It's UVW mapping, not QVW. :p

Anyway, keep at it. I'm not trying to drive you off, just trying to help. Bear that in mind. ;)

First things first...this was never in the movies, therefore you can't say that it MUST look like that. I can make it to my imagination. As for the spikes, I'm trying to keep the poly count low and the FPS high. It isn't as symmetrical anymore either...the spikes, nor the rods on the bottom, nor the guns are symmetrical.

I don't know how to merge stuff either...and I think it looks better unmerged. This way, it doesn't look rounded. Living things aren't necessarily (spelling?) merged and rounded, there are bumps and deformities.

According to your ref. pics, the nose should blend in more smoothly with the body. The pic has a concave curve into the nose, you have a convex curve. I hope you see what i mean.

edit: Looking back at it, I also agree that the hull should be one mesh. The ship has a very organic feel to it and the seams created by the different objects destroys that look. It'll probably make it easier to uv map too:D

Well, the QVW Mapping worked, and it is QVW Mapping. The Coralskipper would look better merged, but not realistic. Living things aren't merged. My shoulder isn't merged like that with my arm. My knees aren't merged with my legs like that.

Also, I now need tFighterPilot to finish it off. But, I need his MSN Messenger too. I hope he can add the ".skin" file. You know, the text file one. I dunno how to add that, nor what to put in it...C2 told me it comes later on in the model.

TFighterPilot, I tried sending you a PM, yet your inbox is full...

So, here is what I was writing to you:

Hey man!! Dude, check out my last post in the Coralskipper thread. The models have been QVW Mapped, and exported as .3ds files for you to finish off. But, what about the .skin files? I dunno what to put in them, when to make them, or how to!! C2 told me that it comes in the end, I dunno.

I need your MSN Messenger so we can talk online about the models.

All I need done are the bones, the tags (I dunno how to use them or make 'em), and turning it into the right format for JA (and the .skin files). Also, for the Coralskipper, you may not know where I want the tags. On MSN Messenger, I can make a picture and highlight where the tags are needed.

Thanx again!! You are the roxxors!! I am finally coming close to finishing these models!! It's been half a year, and I'm darn tired of waiting!!

Yeah, that is the exact message. I hope you see this soon!!

YAAAAGH! YOUR REFERENCE PICTURE IS MERGED! And in this case, so aree your legs. Sorry, the model doesn't look anything like what you're going for right now. :\

But yeah, I can't take this anymore. You're on your own with this one. Have fun, etc etc. ;)

Oh, and I'm pretty sure it is UVW mapping. ulusfub :D
