FREAKA
Ok I know this has probably been covered but I'm going to ask agian. So I've been a ps2 only person. Haven't had the xbox but last week I was layed out due to a back injury so I bought the xbox out of bordom. Been playing Halo and the game is incredible. Smooth as a baby's azz!!! I'm an avid socom player, I play as often as I can but I'm just so fed up with the booting and the lag that it got me thinking. Should I go for SW:BF for XBOX??? Most of my Socom clan members have ps2 and not xbox but some do have xbox as well. That is basically the only thing that keeps me with ps2...the love for my clan members. We've been togther for years so I grew to feel as though they are brothers to me! Anyway. I know I can still play socom with them but I wanted unbiased opinions on which console do you think the game will be better. Obviously xbox will have better servers but what other reasons? I mean, better servers is reason enough but...you know what I mean! I did read somewhere (ign maybe) that the ps2 version seemed to be a little smoother as far as game play was concerned. So I'm a little confused. Whereever the article was, I followed a link from the lucas arts website under the review section. Hope I don't get flamed as I would on the sony board Thanks Freaka the wookie luva
Phanto/\/\
Well, ps2 basicaly got the shaft on this deal(again). However you do have to pay for xbox live, and i don't know do xbox's use a usb headset, so you might have to buy a new one. I'm getting this for ps2 just because i don't want to shell out 200 bucks. JediCrow
I wouldn't look at it as the PS2 "getting the shaft". I'm sure they did the best they could for each version given each systems technical parameters.
FREAKA
Well, for most people with xbox they already have xbox live and all the hardware to go with it. Myself, I don't but I know I'll be buying it anyway so it's all good. I don't mind spending the money now when I know I'll spend it later! But I def. see your point. I'm more concerned about the gameplay. Aside from money issues, what system will be better!!! Servers, offline, controls, sound..everything. Which system would you go for? Me, I'll mostly play online so keep that in mind!!!
JediCrow
The only thing that PS2 versions of a game ever have over their Xbox counterparts IMO is that the PS2 controller is better (again, IMO.) But you can get adapters then let you plug in a PS2 controller into an Xbox, so that takes care of that (although I have yet to get one of these adapters, heh.) And as an example noticed just by playing the demo, in the PS2 version you fire your primary and secondary weapons with R1 and L1, respectively, and you just press the shoulder buttons below to change the corresponding weapons. Very intuitive. That intuitiveness is, obviously, not available on the Xbox controller.
FREAKA
Yeah, that would be the same for any game right? I mean, ps2 controllers are without a doubt (IMO) much better than xbox. But would the left and right triggers on the xbox controller be the fire buttons on this game? I would assume..I do like that setup! There is an adapter like that? where could I find such a thing? Thanks bro! Much appreciated

singard
I have both PS2 and XBOX and play online games for both. My advice would be to go with the XBOX version -- XBOX Live has better voice chat than PS2, better server-matching and community infrastructure support, and most importantly you will be able to play on 24-player servers on XBOX, as opposed to 16-player servers on PS2. That's going to make a huge difference and give you a closer experience to the PC version (which will probably be the best, IMHO). I preordered the XBOX version a few months ago and hope that the folks at Gamestop.com will ship it so I get it the day it's officially released. I'd hate to have paid for overnight shipping only to get it days after everyone else ...
Alegis
Until the game is out and we have some good comparision reviews, the slight differences in gameplay aren't really known yet. Graphics will be about the same i guess, for all 3 consoles (give me a screenie and i cant tell you which console). As for just the console, XBOX is known to have better structure as some pointed out previously, etc. If you don't mind waiting a bit for the comparision things, do that
Vezner
XBox, from what I hear, has slightly better graphics. It also allows for 24 players online instead of 16 (which the PS2 has). Aside from that, the game will be pretty much the same. I personally like the x-box better than PS2 (which is why I bought an x-box instead of a PS2) but there are some who disagree. So basically you need to make the judgement call yourself.

Master William
I'd say Xbox, I chose Xbox because I want to see the game how it was meant to be seen. No need for you evil persons to tell the guy to get it for PC, why you gotta do that?? He asked PS2 or Xbox
Vader523
Go with whatever your more comfortable with. I like the controller and controls of the PS2 version. Since I dont have an XBox (Yet) and my computer is slow as it is, I will just get it for the PS2. If a lot of your clan wants you to stay with them and get it for PS2, I would say stay with PS2. If you want to spend th money for Live and a headset and everything, go right ahead. XBox has a little bit better graphics, and since you pay for them, better servers. I had read somewhere the PS2 frame rate is a little higher. Well, its up to you, if you like controls/feel of the game stay with PS2, if your into servers/number of players go with XBox Live. DarthDurp
well, i'd go with xbox, cause the graphics for this game are supposidley better, and as we all know now xbox holds up to 24 players online to ps2's 16.

FREAKA
cool!! I would like to add a little something You people are cool on this site. Alot of other boards I visit there is so many people that like to "flame" for certain things..I was certain I would be flamed for this post but I was wrong... Kudos to all of you! I guess we all got something in common...we're all pumped for this game! We should set up a forum game release day!! I decided to go with xbox on this one. To me, if the game is fun and the servers suck I would kick myself. I'd rather know I'm going to have good servers than to press my luck! see ya on the Battlefront

BigWyrm
I say get it for the XBOX for several reasons like: I have seen both versions at the Star Wars: Battlefront event in San Francisco last July, and the XBOX version looks better by far!The XBOX is capable of handling losts of simultaneous action better than the PS2 due to its superior power. If you have Halo, then you are definately getting Halo 2 and you will definately be getting XBOX Live if you get Halo 2. This makes the cost of getting XBOX Live irrelevant to the decision. Playing over XBOX Live is better than PS2 online. I actually have an early final copy of the XBOX version and the controls are very intuitive, nearly identical to Halo. (see my other thread in these forums for answers to many Battlefront questions) Hope this helps!

Jerol Seren
Originally posted by DogGy Is the X-Box even better then PC? No, not even close. Console systems use low res textures and low count polygon models to counter lag issues. PC's use high quality res and poly counts. Not to mention more players. But graphically speaking...even the best looking Xbox game is probably low or medium settings on a PC in terms of appearance.
