podunk Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 Why is the search function disabled? I'd search to see if someone has already posted this question....but I CAN'T.
Pad Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 The search function is one of the features in vbulletin (the forums script we are using here) that generates the most server load. It was disabled to keep to loads down for now. We eventually will enable it again, I hope at least.
Kuuki Posted September 25, 2004 Posted September 25, 2004 its been disabled due to bandwidth issues although i dont apparently notice any
Iceman_IX Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 The forums have been staying up a lot more of late...
podunk Posted November 6, 2004 Author Posted November 6, 2004 This is lame, don't know why I keep coming back to these forums..... " vBulletin Message Sorry. The search function has been disabled by the administrator."
Lynk Former Posted November 6, 2004 Posted November 6, 2004 So don't come back, we won't miss you. Be patient, the reason the search function is disabled is because is uses valuable server resources. Would you rather you had a blank page telling you that there's too much traffic or to be able to post while sacrificing the search feature?
tk102 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 I'd rather moderators and administrators also share the pain in not being able to Search.

If we did then it'd be harder for us to track down trolls. You can complain all you like about it but there is a reason why it has been disabled for now and it will return in the future.
tk102 Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Fair enough. You call it complaining, I call it reminding.
