distinct division between PC users and consoler players

Since its release I've been checking this forum and the lucasarts forum. 1 thing appears obvious, the majority of console users seem far more happy with the game than PC users are. What is that? My guess is PC users are more used to more indepth, versatile games and what is good for the PS2 isn't exactly par for PC. Gaming magazines have debated the porting of PC games to console and stressed that they don't need to be "dumbed down". What's hit for PC will probably be a hit on consoles. It seems that going the other way and trying to appease everyone right from the start isn't as easy as it seems.

I've played it on Xbox and PC and its funny my feel for each is totally different. Playing it on xbox I feel like I did when I played Goldeneye back in the day... its great fun with instant gratification. On PC though I've thinking it should be more like other FPS with vehicles and since it isn't I get frustrated and angry.

Maybe they should have come out with different versions of the game. Have bigger maps for PC with tighter or more sophisticated gameplay while on console its fast paced "instant gratification" action.

I generally agree. Hopefully they will come out for larger PC maps but this will just make console users mad. I guess they could download them too.

I think PC users are just more mad because the PC system is generally more complex and less user-friendly and more user-dependent (we need filters, join-by-IP system, console, admin controls, etc.) and the game is currently too simplified on the PC version. Definitely built for consoles. They left out necessities (named above) that simply don't exist on consoles.

you can quantify the reaction. Just look at the 3 Lucas Arts SWBF Support Forums.

Posts to the Lucas Arts Support Forum

XBox: 135

PS2: 378

PC: 2,584

...and I understand that the PC version is actually the worst seller, but accounts for 86% of the support posts. (sure some consolers dont have computers but that cant account for there being 20 times as many support request posts)

I just hope that after they fix the initial problems they essentially split off the PC version and allow it to be different than the console verion and more like other PC FPSs by enlarging the maps and tweaking the gameplay.

...but for now the PC version is merely a buggy console port with potential.

The game has a simple engine, the graphics are the best, and sometimes I feel like I'm driving the AT-ST on a console rather then on a Computer. I wondered up into the trees on the Yavin map and got stuck. lol

Maybe people who have consoles like it, because the game was made more around that then the computer version. Not to mention I personally can't stand playing on a console it feels limiting to me. Some can't stand playing on a computer. My friend has a PS2 and I bought "Star Wars BH" to play on it. I liked the game, but was very disappointed when I couldn't redo the controls like you can with majority of computer games.

I think the game as of right now is just set more for the console users and less focused on the PC. Maybe that will be fixed in the patch.

For many this seemed like the long awaited answer to our Star wars multiplayer prayers. So many of their titles deliver only certain aspects of all the potential but never the whole idea. Some thought JA would do it what with the few vehicles here and there... nope. Others thought Galaxies would have it... nope unfinished from the start its merely another way to continuely milk fans for dollars without delivering. Battlefront could of done it but it became more and more obvious as the release got closer. They showed us the big picture months ago but delivered us a thumbnail for 59.99.

I think [RNGD]Tyrant nailed it.

I bet the PC version is the selling much less and yet it accounts for the most Customer Support inquiries. Not a surprise that the PC gaming market is shrinking as more developers are opting for console development with ports to PC instead of the other way around. With those numbers it illusrtates the problems with game development for the PC.

The game is pretty solid with a few areas needing attention. If LA leaves SWBF like it is we can only hope that people in the community develop tools on their own so we can create new PC sized maps and textures.
