Emperor Devon
Hi, I'm new at the forums. I've downloaded so many mods for KOTOR that it's ruined my game. Whenever I talk to an npc I just see a bunch of numbers. All the letters in the game are replaced with numbers. Does anyone have a copy of all the override files (unmodded) which I could download? Thanks.
Mono_Giganto
By default, there are NO files in override, you don't need to download anything, just delete.
Emperor Devon
You mean I should delete everything? Even spells.2da dialogue file? It doesen't sound like a good idea...

Thanks. If you just want to start from scratch kill the entire override folder. The only thing that I can think of you'd want to keep in it are the files required for tk102's Save Game Editor (assuming you use it) Still not sure if that will solve your problem however. Numbers? Did you perchance edit or overwrite your "dialog.tlk" file by accident (in Kotor's root directory)...
Emperor Devon
Yes, I did download some mods which edited spells.2da. I didn't know how dumb that was until a few weeks ago. If I deleted everything in override, wouldn't that ruin the game?

So no worries
Emperor Devon
Thanks. I'll try doing that.
Emperor Devon
It kind of worked. But whenever I talk to an npc there arent't any responces for me to say. And in the main menu rather than saying "new game" or "load game" It just shows a bunch of numbers.
Darth333
This sounds really weird, first time I hear that but it looks like a .tlk file problem. Do you have an English version of the game? Did you modified the .tlk file in the swkotor folder (the AIOFPM and a few other mods do this). If you deleted the file and did not make any backup, then you will have to either reinstall the game (make a backup copy of your saved games first) or try downloading the AIOFPM and select custom install and then select only the .tlk file (if you have an English version fo the game). When you download a mod, always read the instructions. They can provide you with valuable information - I always state the main possible incompatibilities with other mods in my readmes and provide a list of included files. Emperor Devon
I do have an English version of the game, and I downloaded the AIOFPM mod. Since it was screwing up my game, I uninstalled it. Also, I don't download a mod unless I can see the instructions. I guess I'll reinstall the game. Oh well. I'd only gotten to the Taris Sith base. I also once tried to modify the tlk. file, but it didn't do anything.
Emperor Devon
I tried to uninstall the game, but this message popped up saying the specified module could not be found.
Darth333
As i said, you must have intalled incompatible mods. Any mod using baseitems.2da or spells.2da will be incompatible with the AIOFPM (you have the option to not install the baseitems.2da file). However, when you uninstalled it, you also deleted the .tlk file (there is a warning right at the beginning of the installation that tells you to backup the .tlk file). The solution would be to redownload the aiofpm and only install the tlk file, as explained above, assuming this is the problem.

I think Reign of the Sith did that but I am not sure since I never played it... Emperor Devon
Nope. But I did download some mods which added new files to the modules folder. No, I didn't delete the .tlk file. I made a backup copy of it. I also did dowload reign of the sith.

No, I didn't delete the .tlk file. I made a backup copy of it. I also did dowload reign of the sith. Then the AIOFPM is not the cause of the problem. I really have no idea but very likely something is missing. What mods did you have?
Emperor Devon
You said any other mod which edited .tlk would incompatible with AIOFPM? I downloaded Holowan plug-in 2, and that modified .tlk This isn't the first time a bunch of numbers have replaced all the letters in my game. But I managed to fix it that time... Will do it this weekend Thanks Darth333, it's quite the handy little thing. I've recently built a "current uti's" and "current override" contents lists so I can remember codes and mods I have loaded... --------- Hey Emperor Devon, If you have to wind up re-installing, backup your "saves" folder, you won't have to replay through Taris. And I would strongly recommend using cchargin's Kotor Mod Manager utility. It's been a real life saver for me. You can find it in the List of Downloads Sticky.... DON'T delete everything in the "modules" folder! Unless you really do want to re-install
Emperor Devon
I deleted most of my mods in hope it would do something. I now have no mods, because I deleted everything in override. (I made backup copies) ChAiNz told me it would help, and it did.
Emperor Devon
No, I didn't delete anything in modules (except for reign of the sith). I did however, delte everything in override. But I made backup copies.
Darth333
Deleting the files inside the override folder shouldn't be problematic :this folder is normally empty (it is used only to put files that will overwrite the originals but not replace them. ChAiNz.2da
OK...here's something I forgot. Sometimes, saved games 'retain' mod settings, even if they aren't there (buggers they are). You might want to try starting a new game to see if it's still being quirky. I know it's a pain in the bum, but it might save you a half-hour instead of re-installing.... If you happen to have a saved game BEFORE you loaded any mods, try that one.... You can check this thread out too if you have to restart a game (READ CAREFULLY)... http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=125174

Emperor Devon
It didn't work. When I speak to an npc there isn't any dialogue for me to read, or for my character to say. Everything in the options menu is just numbers.
Darth333
Is your dialog.TLK file in your SWkotor folder? (i.e. not the override folder) It really looks like a dialog.TLK file problem. I found out that some people had problems with AIOFPM because they were changing the default path I set up for installation "C:\ProgramFiles\Lucasarts\SWKotor" to "C:\ProgramFiles\Lucasarts\SWKotor\Override"...
