toms
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/30/194242&from=rss Combines Firefox and IE rendering engines (though this could be thought of a s both a good and a terrible thing) and has a slighlty unfriendly looking UI IMHO... ET Warrior
Or maybe it's one of those, lets use this browser because it's actually better and more convenient for my browsing needs than IE, not to mention the vast reduction in spyware that infests my computer as a result of my switch. Okay, i'm done pointing out your obvious lack of knowledge on the subject

IG-64
It's about time I got rid of IE. *goes to d/l firefox* [EDIT] I haven't seen anything too grand on here yet, except for the fact that a few load times have screwed up, and the LF reply field is half it's size. toms
From a web design point of view, IE is just evil... it does everything its own way rather than following the standards. Netscape was actually better than IE back then, but version 4's style sheet support was SO buggy that it got a bad reputation... and versions 6 and 7 just never worked or looked right. They had very unfriendly User Interfaces as well, plus too much bloat of "extras". If you get the security setting on IE right it isn't TOO bad, but it isn't set up that way by defualt and that is what causes all the trouble. Firefox isn't particularly great IMHO (no better than opera or others), but the fact IE is so poor makes it look good. Its great plus points are its open source nature (if you like that sort of thing) and Extensions (which are just awesome). This new netscape is made by a new team, using the firefox engine. But it has an option to switch to the IE renderer for those pages that don't work in anything except IE. On the one hand this seems like a good idea to add flexibility for users (and a great one for testing web pages), but it does remove the need for people to FIX their web pages so that they work properly, and not just in IE. They also seem to have borrowed the UI from netscape 7, which is non-standard and fairly rubbish. It is an interesting development, but it remains to be seen whether the netscape brand was worth resurecting.
