Leper Messiah
was just wondering whether the pestilence known as Kerrang Magazine was an international thing or wether its just us brits cursed with it? For those not familiar with it Kerrang is a music magazine and television channel that attempts to proclaim dominion over all metal/alternative music. For a publication thats been around so many years it continues to amaze me how little it knows about its subject matter. They are forever sponsoring and promoting bands that i hate, and that i have never met a single fan of. Before this week the thing i most hated them for was taking over the festival at Donington Park and calling it "Download" (urgh). However this week Kerrang made it personal. Im helping set up a Rock/Metal/General Alternative Music society at my uni with a night set up for us at the student union, and Kerrang have got wind of it. They want in. Or more accurately they want us to advertise their magazines/festivals/bands (possibly even having some of their dross in to play) they basially want their logo all over us. We want no part in it, we want Kerrang the hell away from us, but no, the upper management of our Student Union thinks it would be a wonderful idea to have a publication like Kerrang on board (i want to vomit at the prospect) so they could in fact force co-operation in so much as making the deals for us. We're supposed to meet with them at some point, i'm getting a t-shirt with Kerrang Are Inbred printed for the occaison. edit: spulling mistakes in thread titles are quite embaressing.... •-BLaCKouT-•
LOL, I stopped reading Kerrap! years ago (when they started covering indie bands as I recall - ironic that I got into the indie thing by myself a couple of years later) The only thing that it had going for it is that it's weekly - so the news and gig-listings were up to date (unlike Metal 'monthly' Hammer etc). But now we've got t'internet so there's no need. Bunch of Arse to 'em and their 'Manson-TV' channel. B.
