Shimaon
http://www.gknetworks.net/kotor/TextureProblem01.jpg As you can see in that image, I have a strange problem where my textures look kind of cartoony and such, I'm sure there's a problem with the txi. Right now it's: xbox_downsample 256 Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks, -Shimaon
T7nowhere
Are you saving the tga as 32bit?
Shimaon
... 0_o Apparently not... Paint Shop Pro only goes up to 32... Arg... Oh well, thanks for the help. ^^; EDIT: 24! It goes up to 24, heh, I just realize how little sense my post must have meant otherwise...

Make sure your texture has an alpha channel and you're working with "millions of colors" rather than something like 256 or such. Also, make sure you're working in RGB and not CMYK. PSP should support 32 bit .tga's... then again, I haven't worked in PSP in years. What version are you running 8 or 9 (or lower)? Version 8 I believe has a patch for .tga problems and they're currently working on a patch for version 9.
Shimaon
Version 9, I picked it up at X-Mas. But it only lets me select 8, 16, or 24 bit depth and I can choose compressed or uncompressed. But the thing is, the actualy texture file looks fine, it just looks strange in-game... Here's the texture file: http://www.gknetworks.net/kotor/PMBI11.tga
ChAiNz.2da
well huh... now that is odd Surely PSP doesn't require a plug-in for 32-bit? I could've sworn that when I used PSP that I was able to get 32bit... (shows how much I know ) heh... of course that was version 6/7... I know version 8 has a problem with .tga (much like Photoshop does in an earlier version). Perhaps there's a patch available or in development, but I must admit I'm behooved and bewildered. I did manage to save it as a 32bit .tga with Photoshop.. so if all else fails... I can send you the file. Just let me know
Shimaon
I've looked and can't find a plugin for it. I emailed Jasc Tech Support about it. Now to play the waiting game...
animeangel
It's almost definately PSP 8. I have the same the same problem. *grumbles*
Archon II
Why not use the Gimp? Free software is good software... usually. I used it to make custom .tga files and it just as well as PSP...
Darth InSidious
How do you determine to save it as 32-bit, though?
Darkkender
How do you determine to save it as 32-bit, though? GIMP actually automatically saves "TGA" files as 32 bit I've discovered. When you load a 24 or 32 bit tga in it automatically transforms it to a 32 bit. Then when you save the tga it is already saved as 32 bit.
