toms Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 to stop your house burning down or something... More details here: http://www.gadgetmadness.com/archives/20050217-141_million_xbox_power_cords_recalled_by_microsoft_due_to_fire_hazard.php
BongoBob Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Just ordered mine and was gonna post this, but you beat me to it. I bought mine in 2004, but it was manufacture July 8, 2003.
El Sitherino Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I don't know why, but somehow the thought of a power cord causing injury made me laugh. The wording just seemed funny.
TiE23 Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 ooo, Oct. 23, 2003? Mine was made in August of 2003. So close. Is it free? Mine always falls out, and it annoys me. Maybe a new one won't do it. TiE
Neverhoodian Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I learned about this recall earlier today. I don't know if I should bother, since there have been very few incidents of the malfunction. Still, it wouldn't hurt to be on the safe side, I suppose. And now for your viewing pleasure, a link to Microsoft's reaction.
Acrylic Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Hey, thanks for the notice! I ordered mine. (It was made in 2002) =/
Mex Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 I'll have to order one, I bought mine in June 2003 I think.
RoxStar Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I bought one, even though I probably don't need it because my XBOX is never on for more than two hours straight.
toms Posted March 21, 2005 Author Posted March 21, 2005 remember this? Turns out the cables wern't the problem, its the power supply that shorts out.... the new cables just have a fuse in them so that when your xbox goes down it doesn't take your house with it... Typical microsoft patch.... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/03/19/xbox_recall_nofix/
TiE23 Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Im not really scared If people realized that the powersuppy would fry. They could get MS to replace every Xbox. I don't blame MS for going to the powercord excuse, what else would they do? TiE
ET Warrior Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 They could replace the equipment that THEY made faulty. It may have cost them, but they have the money, and it was THEIR fault. At the very least they should replace any Xbox that craps out because of the power supply for no charge.
